You know how sometimes people say things like "companies need to pay good salaries so that people have money to buy their products" in online arguments, i always bring Brazil as a counterargument. I was born in Latin America and for sure the rich do not need masses of consumers to "buy their products". Quite simply, they can do all the consuming themselves.

Extreme inequality usually happens in economies with an effective "infinite" labor supply. Historically that meant rural people that kept moving to the cities for work in an endless migration. The low salaries made it easy to have big profits that could be reinvested and the economy grew fast, this continued until surplus rural labor ran out. Then at that point the economy "switches" to a regime of high salaries and low economic growth.

I've been to Brazil many years ago. I was struck then by how difficult it must be to live there.

Eu ainda estou aprendendo como funciona tudo isso aqui, mas eu acho que precisa de um número mínimo de posts para conseguir enviar DM, certo?
