This is about suicide FYI.suicide, freedom, and slavery. A LOT of people will read this and completely misunderstand what I'm trying to say, or they will focus on petty details about different forms of slavery, completely missing the point, the big picture and the most important truth about what I'm trying to say.but oh well lol.

Every US citizen knows about the history of chattel slavery and racism in this country. The civil war, Abraham Lincoln,emancipation proclamation yada yada yada. But slavery didn't end, it just changed forms from dictating every aspect of a persons life(chattel slavery) to demanding that they work and contribute to society in a significant way and pay taxes, but they are "free" to choose what work they want to do, at least "more" free than in chattel slavery. For a woman that usually meant bearing and raising children. For a man,a full time job. So essentially his career became his life, while motherhood became the woman's purpose in life. It's still slavery, just a different form. If someone attempts suicide, because for whatever reason they don't want to keep living, and police can be called and legally compel this person using physical force if necessary ( they are permitted to threaten suicidal people with force if they don't comply) then that is absolutely as Anti-freedom as we can get. The opposite of freedom is...... you guessed it. They are dictating whether a person lives or dies. That is damn close enough to slavery as far as I'm concerned. "We won't tell you where to work, but you better damn well work, and we'll definitely force you to stay alive as much as in our power to do so." It is close enough to be legitimately called a form of slavery. We either live in a free society or a slave one. If people can't legally choose when they die, is that freedom? No. I'm talking about society and laws.. I'm not talking about a persons ability to make any choice in life. That's a different subject.

To me it is cruel and horrifying how suicide attempts are stopped against that persons wishes. After all, none of us asked for this life and in a world like this wanting suicide can be perfectly rational. I do wish that we lived in a world where we could be open about wanting to die, and we could just die in peace without all the secrecy. No one should be forced to live against their wishes.

I did a lot of research into the legal background behind the right to suicide. I believe that if you have a right to life then you have its opposite, the right to death. My research led me to the conclusion that US ban on suicide, including assisted suicide, is partially religious.

Anyways, you will never convince anyone who thinks that suicide is terrible that any "unjustified" suicide should be allowed. This is an extremely controversial belief, people act like I'm totally crazy for saying it. As though it's crazy to say that people should have a choice, regardless of how others feel about it.

the land of the enslaved there's no freedom here because if there was nobody would be alive here, life's just to intolerable that at some point during a lifetime he or she will want to die but they have constructed society in such a way that it is forbidden to end one's life and have restricted all easy ways to die via the law, if suicide was easily accessible nobody would be alive here everyone would just leave this shithole.

If we follow your logic we may as well reinstate chattel slavery again and make it legal to own a person as property. As you say,it doesn't matter if a person has legal rights to their own body/life. It's strange that people think consent is very important for sex,but not for someone's life or death.

In what kind of world would easy access to suicide be possible? I think the ruling class must be nice to the people or the people would choose to go. The rulers might say, I give you both suicide and anti aging options, I bet you will choose the latter under my rule.

You're right. We probably won't convince them, but I'll happily call society out for being pro-slavery and anti freedom in this way. Hypocrites,since they claim to "love" freedom and hate slavery.

The problem now is that suicidal people can't just do it. They have to take the more difficult, risky, unpleasant, and more public approaches, because the easy, tidy methods are banned. Most suicidal people probably just want to do it alone in a private place without involving other people, not in public where other people can see and have to deal with the consequences. But this is not possible without the society's approval.

In my case i choose CTB no matter what. Anyway i think in a real freedom world the suicide option should be on the table but suicide is increasing every year, probably it will be a business in a few decades.

In the US 13th amendment in USA is used to continue slavery even without 14th amendment protections because laws for thee but not for me. It's just racist.

People can look up disabled people in S.Korea working as slaves in today's society.

Imagine being so coddled you've never even considered the lives of others who live in real modern-day slavery or the historical context of it except on some superficial level.

I though suicide tourism is just a pipe dream. Even in some countries that allow assisted suicide, they're seriously medical, it's nothing recreational.

It's a pipe dream for those who are less privileged.
For the wealthy it's a standard practice for whatever reason. Many countries can be an option.
Just because you can't afford it doesn't mean it doesn't exist or you have to be resentful. JFC.
