This guy failed 99.9% helium method. why?

We are in the same boat. I've read about failures on wiki and in every case it seems air was getting inside the bag or the connections were not secure.
Nitrogen is better than helium—heavier gas, less likely to leak.

Also I'll add that his post was scare-mongering and his disclosure at the end to "not try this method" when, in fact, thousands have died using helium or nitrogen, seems suspect to me.
I don't want to handcuff myself because I will be in a motel and don't want to fail and be found the next morning by the maid, handcuffed. That idea scares me. What I'll probably do is bring the nitrogen kit and my gun, so if the nitrogen fails I'll just shoot myself.

I thought they were diluting it with oxygen because of people using it to commit suicide. My first thought was that his tank was diluted with oxygen, but when I went back to read his post it said the tank was 99.9% helium.
My second thought is that he is just trying to scare people away from using this method.
He doesn't say what rate he set the regulator to!!!
He installed the regulator and checked the pressure but didn't set the rate. My guess is he left it on its default rate of less than 5 liters per minute.
It should be set to 15 liters per minute for inert gas.

1. He should have stopped 20 seconds in when he started hyperventilating. That's a sign that something is not right.
2. He should have stopped 35 seconds in when he got pain in his chest. That's a sign that something is not right.

If he really tried and wasn't just a pro-lifer trying to frighten people away from the method, then he must have failed because he did something wrong.
What I'm afraid of is how tight should the elastic fit around my neck? I want it tight enough to work but not so tight that carbon dioxide and oxygen can't escape the bag. I'm worried about finding the optimum tightness. *sigh* I worry too much. I just don't want to fail. I want to get it right.
Also, I've heard it mentioned that the book Final Exit has information regarding this method. I have the hardback copy of this book and I couldn't find any mention of this method. So far, I've only read chapter five of the PPEH. I still have yet to read Five Last Acts.
I hope the regulator is easy to use and that I'll easily be able to set it to 15lpm, instead of some other measure unit. I don't know if the authors of these books are American or from another country, so will my regulator have a setting in that metric unit of lpm?

In the third attempt he left it on "slightly" my guess is that it was too slow of a flow rate and so again he was knocked out by it (this time for longer because of the increased volume of helium available) but again ran out of gas to breathe.

Someone might have said this already but maybe his elastic band was too tight. From my understanding you have to leave a small opening at the bottom so that any CO2 you exhale can escape. If you don't you just rebreathe that co2 and experience hypercapnia effects. That would explain the chest pain and the panic causing him to claw at the bag.
