If the therapist has been meh so far, I personally would ask,
"What methods, treatment modalities and theoretical models do you use that will help me to recover, and to either reach or discover my goals?"
I'd write down the answers and research them when I got home.
If you do ask such a question, I'd be interested to know the response if you wanted to share.
She uses a humanistic modality, meaning humanistic psychology which is focusing on max potential of the individual, and not just the dysfunction or problem; understanding. Types of therapy used is Cognitive behavioral therapy (cbt), and dialectic behavioral therapy (dbt). Narrative intervention meaning challenging or modifying the client's narrative or opinions or thoughts of oneself or the situation. Mindfulness. From what I've gathered, she seems to do the deconstruction of the person's problem and narrative, e.g the root cause, self-abuse or doubt, and reducing pessimism or negative thinking, putting it in realistic and simplistic ways.
From my experience, she treats people like equals, she asks their views, their opinions. She'll have conversations with you, asks you what wrong, and will take a logical approach to it. We delved into a conversation regarding the virus for example. So far, she's advocated inpatient care, not forced, but asked to consider. Additionally, she's mentioned meditation, not in the ridiculous religious or spiritual way, but just concentrate on your self. You don't have to "clear your mind", deep breaths, or any of that. You do thinking and reflection on your own thoughts, and learn how to separate them from reality. I've seemed to have been more lucky, or just have a better experience with psycho workers then others on this forum, which I recognize. Sorry for the rant!
