Discussion Theoretically, how would you kill yourself if you were stuck in hospital?

Obviously the most sensible option is to play the game, and wait until you can leave. However, if you had to kill yourself, how would you get around the strict policies? Be as creative as you can.

Personally, before I attempted suicide, I would cut out a hole in a teddy bear and put 25g of SN inside of it, then stitch the hole back up. Get a relative to bring the teddy bear, then take out the SN and CTB. Or perhaps you could create your own tourniquet.

I would go with this too. Though, depending how often they check up on you, you may not be able to CTB. I would fear about turning into a vegetable.

In the hospital that I went to they had moveable furniture. I would take the sheets and tie it to the door frame and jump off the furniture. They also have windows that open a small bit. I'm wondering if I pushed hard enough on the window if it would break and then I could jump.

IDK maybe it won't work. But it's worth a shot. One could add pressure by elevating the bottom part of the body while laying face down. Which would add pressure.
Try googling how people commit suicide in prison.

From what I have read, those who do manage to CTB while inpatient, do so by hanging themselves.

Yeah I believe hanging seems to be the most effective and popular way to go since given the availability of things that are used to do so. Jumping would be another method if one is on a high enough floor to do so, but also given that windows are likely reinforced (especially at a high security hospital), that is much less common. Another way is to stockpile medicine (assuming that the staff doesn't check) and know the right medicines to OD on (would require lots of knowledge of different drugs and their effects) and then make sure that you take them in large amounts and also quickly too. However, given that most staff do check up on patients and know how much of each drug is administered, that'll be really, really difficult to get around.

Assuming you are in the psych ward then staff will be monitoring you all day and the bathrooms will have no shower heads for you to hang yourself off. I would wait until evening time for the night staff to come, then hang myself in the middle of the night inside my room. I'd have to use either some clothing, shoelaces or a towel.

Ive seen videos where soldiers avoid captured alive by biting something in their mouth to release a poison. I wonder if its possible to somehow put 20mg of SN in my teeth that releases only after biting it down really hard?

this is something that I wish I would have figured out. Obviously, it is harder to ctb in psych. hospital than any other hospital department or even regular prison ,where they manage to smuggle drugs.
I may go with the same idea as you, somehow get SN in there, or perhaps asked to be treated for some medical issue, taken to other department and jump when nobody look ? Unfortunatelly I am not as impulsive as that, I never know how I will act under too much time pressure, so maybe I could not go through with it.
It needs to be a method that dont create noise (seizures,convulsion or vomit), if done on a hospital bed. Wish I had a friend that d bring me lethal substance, but I wonder if the person would be charged with murder later on?

I once tried to stockpile a lot of soy sauce packets, dehydrate myself and then basically eat a bunch of them to cause my sodium levels to skyrocket. I didn't go through with it of course (and eating soy sauce just by itself is seriously gag inducing) but if you're desperate enough there's a way to do it. It's just smarter to pretend you're all hunky dory than when you get discharged to just try to ctb.

While I was in the ward me and my roommate talked about how we would do it (they didn't have cameras in the shared rooms only private ones had them?) But one of my favorites was one they came up with, while in the room they would put a pillow over their face and lift up the bed onto them smashing the pillow into the face suffocating oneself. Painful but theoretically it would work, the beds are heavy so you would probably want to luck out with a sensible roommate which are hard to come by even in psych wards.

The title said hospital, not mental facility or prison. In regular hospitals, it's very easy to get to the roof. I've been on the roofs of 3 or 4.

Are you referring to medical hospital or psych ward. I would think either way, hanging is your best method

The title said hospital, not mental facility or prison. In regular hospitals, it's very easy to get to the roof. I've been on the roofs of 3 or 4.

I once got lost looking for a hospital department and ended up on the roof.. when I eventually got to the right place I made a comment to the effect of: "it's a good thing I'm not suicidal, I'd have been off!" (Little did they know hahaha)
