Anymore I am convinced this has to be a dream state we are living in. There is no way the world I grew up in has descended into the shitshow that it is today. I really don't want to see what else is in store. All I want to do anymore is lay in bed in pure catatonic depression. This has to be my last year.

I completely agree. I spend most of my days in bed and if I have do something it literally takes everything out of me. The world is shallow awful place to live. Where people idolise reality tv stars and live the perfect lie on social media. I hate the fact that the world has to be politically correct not allowed to say anything without being called out.

Yea you said everything that is wrong. Humans are not naturally good, it takes effort and restraint of desires and taking personal responsibility for yourself to have freedom. I mean to hold on to freedom it takes being educated properly about reality, it takes at least 90iq for the majority of people to understand that u can't violate property rights or other people. Below this iq there's never been civilization observed among humans. When there's a group of rulers who have the power to make terrible decisions for other people is when things go to hell. If individual persons are held accountable for mistakes and nobody has rights over others, then you can limit power and it's not so dangerous to the entire group. The state alters incentives, the economy, and as a result morality breaks down and gradually things destabilize as people become less moral.

Yes, the world has been fake most of human existence. Back in the earliest days before government rule it was the church and religious powers that controlled the masses. The enlightenment and industrial revolution brought us out of religious and monarch rule, but then it has manifested into a new problem. A lot of things in this world is really fake and stupid. I think once the majority of the masses are woke, then the rulers will either find a new ideology or trend to enslave the masses once more or be overthrown. However, knowing human history, it won't take long before a new ruler or force takes control of the power vacuum and then the cycle repeats with yet another group of people.

@Stillnotsure Yes, that makes sense. The people who are successful often relies on people who are less successful for them to keep their system and reign active. A parallel of this would be the prison system. There has to be people that are sucked into the system which the rulers (authorities, law enforcement, court system, and prison-industrial complex staff) are able to rule over them. The war on poverty, war on drugs, war on (insert whatever criminalized people/group) exists so those people can profit. Without all those they would not be able to profit or continue with their power. It is absolutely disgusting and I do believe that too many people have been incarcerated for what is a victimless crime or things that aren't harmful to others, but that's another topic altogether.

Yes but those people are just as important. There's a difference between competence and power. You do need the competent people to be fully utilized and rewarded well because it lifts all boats. Normally it's not as if all that matters is beauty, talent, high iq, and competence to be successful because that's not the only thing that is of value. In this current system it does give u an advantage if you are very smart, talented, ambitious, conscientious. But without income redistribution and meddling by governments you would still be fine as long as u were a good person. You would still be able to have a quality life in a free market. I learned one reason socialism doesn't work. One major reason is the Pareto principle. If u take an entire business and measure the productivity of the employees. Only 10% of the employees produce a large percent of the value to the business. This is one reason a minimum wage can be kind of unfair. Because a larger percent of the employees don't contribute as much as others. So it would be better if there were no minimum wages because then some employees will get paid and move up much faster based on the employer being able to pay u what you are worth to the company. I might be kind off on some of this lol! I'm just rambling. Minimum wages actually prevent people from being able to be hired as well.

Idk .. to me humanity has alway's been a shitshow. I'm just lucky (or unlucky) enough to live in a time where i don't need to fight for survival. Where being somewhat of a functioning being is enough.

When i see threads like this i always think how would life have been living in the dark ages,time of the egyptians and romans etc. Or even further back .. life would have been short and very hard. Unless one would be lucky enough to be born in wealth .. but that is the same wether is now or 2000 years ago.

Humanity has been at war for as long as it's on the planet. I wouldn't say the world turning superficial and fake is any worse than the atrocious things humanity has done before.
