if a parent was in a forest with their children and a bear started attacking and the parent did nothing is that parent good or bad or neutral

like wise if the universe created life and then abandons them to the environment is the universe good or bad or neutral

The universe operates without intention or morality—no consciousness is guiding it to care for or harm life. From this perspective, it might seem "neutral," as it simply follows physical laws without any particular regard for life.

However, from a human perspective, the harshness of existence—the universe's indifference to suffering—can feel negative, especially when considering events like natural disasters or illness. This view can lead some to see the universe as "bad" in a practical sense, even if, philosophically, it is simply indifferent.

It's indifferent. As humans, we seek a just world, when it does not exist. That is why it breaks our mind when something truly evil happens. We can't fathom it.

I believe that objective "evil" and "good" do not exist, so the Universe is neutral for me.

That is why I want to believe that there is no God/Gods/Absolute/..., who punishes animals (we are animals) for bad deeds.
Although there may be unimaginably advanced civilizations that are completely Gods from our perspective, but in practice they are just other animals that have achieved a very high level of development.
In such a scenario, they can punish us for some of our deeds.

The cosmos itself has no intrinsic moral attributes of good or bad; instead, it functions in accordance with natural principles. These values are frequently assigned by human perception and interpretation of events, experiences, and phenomena according to philosophical, cultural, or personal viewpoints, which results in different interpretations of the nature of the cosmos.

Our universe is objectively bad because things only loses energy as time goes on, energy loss causes developments to halt and come to an end. A neutral universe does not lose energy and things can develop to a certain point that is most optimized for its sum of energy, development stops there but the processes go on. A good universe is where things can develop infinitely because energy increases. A theoretical perfect universe exists when there is unlimited energy and thus develops to absolute highest degree possible.

I am delusional

The concept of a neutral universe, where energy neither increases nor decreases, suggests an interesting state where things can evolve to a certain peak and stay there indefinitely. Such a system would allow for continuous, optimized processes but with a ceiling on the complexity and development possible. In this state, entropy would remain constant, theoretically allowing stable, dynamic processes to endure.

The idea of a good or perfect universe, however, where energy increases or is unlimited, poses the possibility of unbounded complexity, eternal evolution, and, perhaps, even the negation of decay or disorder.

The universe is bad though I mean that metaphorically since the universe is brainless and has no concept of morality. It's bad that evolution exists and happened on earth as it caused so many sentient beings to suffer and die horrifically. Yes, evolution itself is brainless and isn't trying to be evil or good or do anything other than to replicate but it caused so many suffering and pain in the process. I see something as evil if it causes suffering regardless of whether it is aware that it is causing suffering or not

A. The cosmos itself has no intrinsic moral attributes of good or bad
None for which there is any scientific evidence...

; instead, it functions in accordance with natural principles
These are not necessarily mutually excusive...

Agreed

B. Our universe is objectively bad because things only loses energy as time goes on
Why would that make the universe 'bad'? Put $1T into a bank account for me, and even if I only withdraw thereafter I won't complain that it is 'bad'.

, energy loss causes developments to halt and come to an end.
IMPO, that developments can happen at all is GOOD, and it is ridiculous to demand that development is infinite before one stops complaining.

A neutral universe does not lose energy and things can develop to a certain point that is most optimized for its sum of energy, development stops there but the processes go on.
That would be a pretty darned good universe.

A good universe is where things can develop infinitely because energy increases. A theoretical perfect universe exists when there is unlimited energy and thus develops to absolute highest degree possible.
The best AFAIK.

It is bad because developments go downhill at one point, which only causes pain and suffering for living beings.

Developments is a factor, but objects don't care about such things. For example, what would a rock think of a machine? It doesn't even matter one bit. I judge the universe based on how living being feels, otherwise in every case scenario the universe would be neutral anyways

The universe is neutral and even the things we consider "bad" are neutral, and that's why I hate it.

Or maybe development tapers off with life at an extremely high level of achievement. That's BAD?
And even if the end is heat death or a big crunch, at least we existed. That's bad?
If you look at what we don't have, you can always find something to complain about, but if you look at what we do have, you can always find something to be grateful for.
(I hesitate to use 'always', but it is concise and I have not yet found exceptions).

I used "developments", because that was used in the statement I was addressing...

Personally, I don't feel like the universe is making conscious decisions. I just feel like there are a bunch of forces at work that have shaped things up to this point.

If there's a God behind it though- that's different. I have no idea why they've created some of the things the way they have. Either there's a much bigger, much more complex plan at work, or they aren't in fact omnipotent- they're having to make difficult decisions around something even more powerful. Or, they have a very different moral compass to us. Odd seeing as many religions seem to insist we abide by a strict moral standard. A whole 'Do as I say, not as I do' set up.

We're monads on a sphere floating in a virtually endless dark void, I can't see how there can be a morality whether good or bad in that
