Just wanting some peace

The thought of very old age has always disturbed me, I see it as being irrational to wish for that. This is all that existing leads to, our inevitable deterioration and decay from age if one doesn't die earlier, it's truly a horrific fate to me.

This is why it comes across as being insane when people wish to restrict options of suicide methods and force other people to suffer, it's like they in denail, do they really wish to age and suffer in the process, losing everything they had. I just think that life is a process of slowly dying, we are only destined for suffering and loss, I will never understand these people who value and wish to prolong something so truly worthless and futile as existing when it leads to nothing and nowhere.

We are only destined for nothingness and to me that is the only beauty in it all, there is nothing more ideal than this existence finally being forgotten about, not even existing as a distant memory. Humans deserve the option to take control over their inevitable fate in a peaceful way as being destined for nowhere but to be tortured by age truly is such a punishment that is undeserved. I see existence as being a burden in which only death can bring relief from, the true problem is life in itself.

This is a beautifully written post and is very grounded in facts and reality.

Yes, pro-lifers oftenly ignore reality and objective facts whenever their world view gets challenged, so they oftenly try to deny, avoid, or censor any discussion regarding CTB, which only makes people suffer more.

I have the same fear. I have a 97 year old great grandmother who is still alive. It terrifies me that living that long runs in my family. It's honestly something that keeps me up at night, since peaceful CTB options are getting scarce. It's appalling to me that prolife people just "value" life so much that they don't care if you're suffering or not. However, I hope that you'll be able to find some sort of peace in the future :]

The thought of 27 years of agony is horrifying to me enough; I cannot fathom another 27 of agony.

Apparently Frozen was released over a decade ago, and yet I still remember the random spontaneous sing-alongs like it was yesterday. I miss the past very dearly, and I am only at 25% of my natural lifespan. I really do not want to find out how nostalgia feels once I am in palliative care.

Getting old scares the hell out of me. Seeing all the old people struggling in public. There is only suffering.
If you are poor you lose everything. There is nothing left but debt for family along with their grief

I don't mind nor care if others want to experience old age. The problem is when they force others to experience it as well. The thought of living on for potentially decades more is also disturbing to me, as if I haven't endured enough already they want to force me to go through more of it. It's painful, tiring, lonely, and has too much potential to get even worse than it is now. I never wanted any of it in the first place, let alone decades more.

No one wishes to get old; they just prefer that to death. People have social bonds (spouses, children) that keep them moored to life. Because life is finite that makes most people want to squeeze as much as they can from it, not just throw it away ASAP because it's destined to end. But there are indeed plenty of older people who don't want to deal with the decline associated with old age. Outside of people with terminal and degenerative diseases that's the case that's most likely to be sanctioned by wider society and is the springboard for discussion and measures regarding other cases. Can't just jump into the deep end either this sadly.

This is a thought that plagues me daily. We have all seen the reality as to how bad it can get with others. It can be a truly miserable experience that can go on for yrs and yrs. Let's not forget that we even have to pay for it to be miserable. So pay to suffer through it, or go to the streets and suffer more. Few will get lucky and be comfortable in there homes while they die peacefully in there sleep while most others will not. There's nothing about anything that is fair and I look forward to the day where we can all find peace however that may be.

I'm 58 years old now and I don't think that I want to keep going on more than another 5 - 7 years.

The idea of losing my youth, my mobility, being in more pain overtime, my health naturally decaying- it's terrifying. And there's nothing you can do to stop it. Sometimes it's a wonder why we exist at all because quite literally from the moment we're born- the clock is ticking for when we're going to die.
Death can come prematurely, sure. But if that's the case, it's often painful and miserable. Something like a car crash, a revenge murder, or a disease- something like cancer. It'd be nice to just, at the very least choose what you thought was the ideal time to go. When you're still young, but have enough experience in your life that it gives some personal meaning to your death (if you wanted that). But instead, we just march along, in a capitalistic society, working until we die, getting older and weaker and usually turning to some substance or other form of misery to distract ourselves from our slow, inevitable fate. It really is hell, isn't it?
