I got mine from D less than a year ago. He said it will be good till summer 2023.

Still, some people on the site claim it's supposed to stay good for years, if kept in the refrigerator. Who to believe?

I think i believe D, since he is the only one who knows how old that batch already is anyways.

d is not a chemist, of course it's in his interest to say it'll expire at some point in the immediate future. if that was the case, how is it possible vets hold onto the same drug for years at a time?

I think what D is referring to is the date on the manufacturers packaging. Generally it had a year or two tops officially but many have found it efficacious years later. It's like everything. It gets an expiry date because it has to but its aleays a conservative estimate for the sake of avoiding litigation and increasing sales. Much like our house hold tech and appliances have planned obsolescence so do medicines and everything else. Teuth us many things last way longer. N included it seems.

If you're really uncomfortable I would suggest sending a sample for testing to EC. It's quick a lot cheaper than buying new N. If you can even get it.

Imo the most fundamental law in the Universe is the Law of Entropy. All things go from order to disorder. All things/systems decay, break, become disordered . All things die.

I'm cutting and pasting the text from the article linked below . So any quotes below are not from me but from the article

Results: We determined that the drug degraded at a maximum of 0.5% per year in our preparation (alkaline water/propylene glycol/ethanol) when stored in the dark at room temperature. A yellow discoloration developed after about 2 years, which we have arbitrarily determined disqualifies the preparation from use as an anesthetic. Attempts to spectroscopically assay this discoloration were not successful.

I'd hazard a guess that the yellowing was from the propelyne glycol. It's what vape liquifs are made with and it tends to turn yellow over time. They mention that they decide its not suitable for anesthesia once it turns yellow but don't say why. I'd guess for sanitary reason more than anything else.

Something I uncertain about in that articlw is how well it pertains to N from D. The article states that, because IV N had becone prohibitively expense and hard to get they made their own solution using nonmedical pentobarbital. That is the substance tested.. It throws up the question, is this what the product D provides is made up of and if not how well to it translate what he sells.

I think the ppeh contains a similar figure. I forget if it was 0.1% or 1%. Either way it seems it can last a long time in dark room temp conditions.

I'd really love to know if the cooling of a fridge is beneficial or detrimental. They say avoid freezing it but that's due to the bottle potentially getting broken. I haven't seen any official word or data on it.

How do you know if he is a chemist or not? I don't really think 1,5 years can be considered "immediate future" with a suicidal person.

I'm not uncomfortable. It's just that i like to be prepared for the future. I have been thinking about suicide for 15 years now and i don't think that will ever change.

The PPEH says it's good for a very long time

I would be more worried about a wellness visit from the police (depending on what country you are from) than anything else right now, not trying to scare you just a heads up. Someone else on here had their N taken which they were keeping in the refrigerator when the police showed up.

i know because they're telling you it expires in 2023, lol. i can assure you it'll stay good much longer than that. every medical body corroborates this.

@JustSwingingTheD you might be ok then-I think they've been turning up after as long as 6 months, but not longer than that (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but you never know. Might wanna read up on some of the threads bout police visits just in case.

When you say "someone else" are you taking about onother recent visit and confiscation?

Well it's been a year soon so they sure are taking their time

In the first spate of visits and raids they were as much as a year post purchase in France and UK if I remember correctly. Of the recently reported ones the longest mentioned so far is 6 months but there are probably more that haven't been posted about. With the forum being open to the public people can use the info here without ever posting.

Uncomfortable may have been the wrong choice of words. Uncertain is more appropriate. To be fair I think it's a good idea to have it tested around the time you plan to use it if you have it for years. It's sensible.

@Smart No More nah you probably read about it at the time, I just mentioned it cos the OP said about keeping N refrigerated so that one came to mind. I can't remember what user it was now since I binge read loads of N posts at the time, I would just hate for anyone else to have gone to all the trouble and expense and be lucky enough to actually have N in their possession and then lose it to the police because they didn't hide it away well enough.
