Physicians have made lots of experiments with carotid compression, mostly on animals. This study reports on experiments that have been done on humans with a "cervical pressure cuff". It contains details about anatomy including the possibility of occlusion of the vertebral arteries and clinical effects of arrest of cerebral circulation. Some interesting excerpts, the first two from an earlier study:

"In normal adult dogs of either sex, periods of arrest of circulation in the brain of six minutes or less, while producing severe functional changes for a time, were invariably followed by apparently complete functional recovery."

"The brain of the very young animal was much more resistent to arrest of blood flow than that of the adult while pregnancy or lactation increased the sensitivity of the brain to temporary arrest of circulation."

"Although the subject was instructed to remove his finger from the jet as soon as he felt like it, and thereby release the pressure in the cuff, he failed to do so, despite loss of consciousness and an anoxic convulsion."

The links didn't work for me. Can you please double check that you've posted the correct links? I'd like to see what they offer to show me. Thank you.

Interesting...

The links worked for me as well. They came up as a downloaded pdf file though.

Hi
Thanks for the links.
Can you please edit the first link to an https link? Privacy wise http isn't recommended, if anybody listens to your network he can view the page that you're viewing and possibly also the referer header (i. e. that you got the link from this thread on this website).

Btw, to prevent the website you're visiting from knowing you came from here - use an extension like Referer Control and add sanctionedsuicide.com to it (set 'Block Javascript Referer' to active, and add a new rule with 'sanctionedsuicide.com' and 'from' on and referrer settings set to 'block').
