Discussion The hypocrisy of the ones who want to shut down this place

I'm in this site for quite a long time and never someone here encouraged me to commit suicide, but much for the opposite, I got so much love and support around here. In the meanwhile, there are so many people around the internet straight telling others to kill themselves and no one fights against it.

It's easy to see it. Try searching in your favorite web search engine using the keywords site:somesocialnetwork "kill yourself". I will show you some examples:

in reddit, there's this copypasta:

the thing has 20 upvotes and an award and is copied and pasted in many places

still in reddit, there's this thread about someone who feels remorse for something bad she did and an user told her she should commit suicide:

the comment has 60 upvotes and 2 awards

in this one, an user tells how she often gets told to kill herself as if it was something casual to say:


If you keep scrolling the results, you will see many more examples. I used reddit because the contents are public, but you can find this behavior in almost any site.

So, my question is: why is all this "acceptable" and we suicidals can't talk with each other?

I agree, hypocrisy of the ones who want to shut down this place - the society is nothing but hypocrisy! Life consists of losses - we must be separated from everything and we must be prepared for the website to be shut down because we live in a world where suicide should be prevented - humans are expected to die of old age.

Thank you for this. I've mentioned before that literally any other social media site is a way better place to go to than here if anyone feels like they actually need to be encouraged to kill themselves. All you have to post is some dumb opinion about anything that goes against what the majority thinks and the messages to kill yourself will come pouring in.

Some of them are even helpful enough to provide actual method info (once got told on a YouTube comment section the proper height to jump if I need to kill myself). I even got the idea to use SN from someone on 4chan way before coming here. The information here is literally all over the internet but there are very few places where the suicidal can actually feel safe to say what they want to without threat of being sent to a place that's just going to make them feel even worse.

This is so true. Judging from only the surface level by outsiders who haven't been through enough life struggles, this forum appears as a bunch of crazy people who secretly worships satan, paints the room red with blood, then lights up candles in the dark, while encouraing each other to hurry up and drink poison, stab or burn themselves, and have a mass suicide ceremony together even if you're completely happy with life, like some underground evil religion out of a movie. However, the reality is 500% opposite

I was just holding my bottle of N and realized that there have been kings and emperors in history who would have given anything to have this. That is how much power there is in it, how much freedom. Painless death. Do not take it for granted.

As always, when some people have power there are going to be others who want to take it away. If for no other reason then for jealousy.

I've been told to kill myself outside of the internet too. I wss somewhat bullied during high school and heard it frequently.

All you have to post is some dumb opinion about anything that goes against what the majority thinks and the messages to kill yourself will come pouring in.

Great observation. I used to chat on a program that uses 'voice' and text chat (I won't name because it is really toxic) and I have been told to kill myself. That person found out that I had suicidal intentions and used it against me. She said that my life was worthless and that I should get a sturdy chair and a rope. She even used little rope hanging emojis to taunt me. Even though, I have these feelings, the last thing I need is for somebody to actively encourage it in a callous and cruel spirited way. This site is the opposite of that. I have had nothing but love and support and I hope I have provided some of that support back to the community. Anyway, great post. I hope my own personal story sheds more light on this matter.
