For those that have "succeeded" in hanging, can you please share/describe the feeling? During the process, was there an "AHA" moment when you knew you are doing it right? Was there any pain/discomfort that you had to initially overcome before being "successful"?

I have done a few practice runs but all of it resulted in aborting under panic, either from choking or uncomfortable pressure buildup in my head. Don't know if this is supposed to be normal body reaction that needs to be overcome, or if this is a sign of doing it wrong.

•The feeling: it felt amazing. I felt like I was finally in control. Almost like I was floating.
•The moment: when I started to pass out I became happy asf.
•Pain or discomfort: it hurt my skin when I didn't use anything as a pad under the scarf. Then I put a tshirt under the scarf and it was ok. I felt a little bit of pressure on my eyes. I also felt hot. Pressure in your head is a sign you're doing it wrong.
Sorry I wrote it like this. My head is a mess rn.

I've only tried wrapping something round my neck and pulling it tight. It was only until recently that I've managed to cut off my carotids correctly. My head no longer felt like it was gonna explode. It felt hot but then everything starts to fade. My vision, hearing etc and then I feel my body getting weak and that's when I let go.

Somehow your description doesn't fit to hang. Rather to hang partially. Or you're doing it completely wrong.

When hanging or partially hanging, you shouldn't feel any choking feelings or uncomfortable pressure in your head.

I made many attempts with the rope and tightening the loop with external weights, which were separated when I passed out and I was able to wake up again. They were never uncomfortable, they were nice experiences

Please explain to us which attempts you made. In what position, with rope or cloth or belt or ...?
Thin rope, thick rope, with a fixed loop or a slipping knot?

How long did it take to get uncomfortable?

Thanks everyone for your inputs.

The rope I'm using is a 7mm climbing/mountaineering cordette, with a simple slip knot. The rope is 4m long and one end is tied to doorknob (the other side of the door), it's the classic doorknob setup. The rope is set up such that when I'm kneeling it becomes quite snug, but from there I would try to apply further pressure by leaning further in. I've tried both above and below my adam's apple.

Usually what happens is 3-5 seconds in I start feeling a lot of pressure building inside my head and it's not pleasant. I've just never gotten past this stage as I always feel like there is something not right.

Please not under the Adam's apple! That leads to suffocation. Please guide the rope between Adam's apple and chin

Attention !
Your experimental setup is not entirely safe and could very quickly end with an unwanted ctb.

I am sure that you cannot build up enough through.

With approx. 3 kg pressure, the veins that are closer to the skin surface close. This leads to an uncomfortable feeling of pressure, because the blood in the lower-lying arteries continues to flow into the head, but can no longer flow out through the blocked veins.
With a pressure of about 5 kg, the arteries also close so that no more blood can get into the brain.

It is therefore very important to build up enough pressure right from the start.

You should choose your body position in such a way that the pressure is high enough without active cooperation from you. So it's more of a position in which the upper body hangs lower down in the rope.

But it is better not to support your knees on the floor at all, then a large part of your body weight pulls on the rope, that guarantees enough strength and pressure.

I can't remember if I found this video while looking into shallow water blackout / the choking game, or if smeone here posted it. In either case, it's a "why you shouldn't try partial hanging" video, which is actually a very good "correct way to partially hang yourself" video:
