Lately it has me quite curious on what will happen, almost to the point of excitement to know what will happen after I die.

I read that the closest thing to what people know is that some people who experience temporary cardiac arrest saw bright lights, they were able to speak to love once, and also remember things that happened around them like when they were having operation in the hospital and what was said. In their words, they describe their experience as 'being outside their bodies.' People use to describe this experience of the light as what we see sometimes in fiction like 'entrance to heaven', or the afterlife... But scientist claim that what's the most likely scenario is that while the conscience doesn't still seize to exists, it is the result of accumulation of trauma that manifests it, almost like a dream.

I personally don't believe in supernatural stuff like Heaven/Hell, etc... But somehow I was born this person and not someone else is a fact, so it does make me wonder how is it of all the species out there, I was born this person, and if somehow there is an afterlife, which of course you'll never know who you were before.

Anyone else kind of has a bit of an excitement of curiosity what happens after death? I know it sounds somewhat morbid and cynical, but we all die at some point anyways, so you can't help to still wonder what that's like.

New research suggests that seemingly otherworldly sensations linked to near-death experiences may actually be rooted in brain activity associated with psychedelics

Near-death experiences are remarkably common. In one study, cardiac arrest victims who survived to describe them. Often life-changing, they are noted for eerie similarities between people's experiences of them. The most common characteristics include feelings of calmness, out-of-body experiences, traveling through a dark region or void, a bright and vivid light in the distance, communicating with otherworldly agents, and traveling to a mysterious and unearthly realm.

People's brains pick up cues from their culture over the course of their life (obviously, this is what things like brains and cultures are for — interacting with and shaping each other). Individuals from different cultures with different mythologies and narratives surrounding heaven, the afterlife, near-death experiences, and so on will have very different sorts of NDEs.

either we are nothing forever or reborn somewhere else somewhere in the future

Consciousness is dependent on the life of the physical body. Once the body is dead, consciousness will cease forever. That's simple and it's what I believe. And it fits with how mundane experiences like sleep, fainting, and general anesthesia all interrupt consciousness.

I very strongly believe that we just cease existing completely after we are finally free from this world and the thought of such a thing is the only relief. Existence is just a tragic unnecessary disturbance in what would otherwise be the most ideal state of non-existence, and I see death as just returning to that state of not-being where we are completely unaware of everything for all eternity.

It is just nothingness just the way things were before you were born. I can't wait to be like that that forever and be at eternal peace.

Let's hope we are not reincarnated in a different body but same mental mindset. That's what nightmares are made of.

Indeed. Though I do like your new incarnation on here. The old one was great too.

I am personally certain that some essential part of us carries on after bodily death. I have encounted ghosts and such things before.
If cyclical reincarnation is the true case, then I really hope I am never born human again. Ssucks.

The first one is my favourite but I use it on other forums and I'm starting to ensure nothing is linked. I will change my username on 20.6 as that is when it says I can x

I can't say I'm not sad about your preparations but I do understand. I hope you find the physical strength to do what you need to. ❤

I been starting to believe that you do get reincarnated after death, but not in a common theorized way. First off I don't believe in anything magical or supernatural, I don't believe in that whole heaven/hell, God, etc... What I do believe is when you die, maybe something out of you that is tangible still floats out there, I guess the best description of it is 'spirit', but in a scientific way, it's something microscopic that the faint eye can't see, and that it travels in the air like dust can, and that somewhere when someone conceives around the physical area where you died, that spirit enters that newborn specie, and that's what you become.

It may sound weird, but then again, it really makes me wonder how I ended being this dude I was born to and that genetic, and not some random person living in a slum at a 3rd world country, or the kid of the richest and most powerful person, or some random butterfly. I believe more or less that everything has a reason, and there is an explanation to why I was born to this dude I became, it's just not proven.

With this being said, sometimes it makes me think that I want to ctb around really rich neighborhood, so I'll get reincarnated to one of the couples that are fucking each other at the time, then I get to be born to be their kid and live this awesome life (unless they are pieces of shit, and sometimes they are, but where can you get the best chance anyways for best life...)

I hope that death entails nonexistence. I suppose it depends on how generic personal identity is as to whether or not consciousness can exist again, assuming a finite timespan and lack of eternal recurrence.
