I partly get why people are against suicide forums. The regulation of them is difficult. (Though I am fully convinced in a world where assisted suicide is mostly illegal such forums are a necessity.) I think Philip Nitschke is quite a controversial character in this forum. But I think the thing which is quite shocking for me: They will not stop eliminating suicide forums. After them they go against assisted suicide organisations. And after them then what? Go against families who lost someone to suicide? I know this sounds like they are hurting themselves in the longrun. (In my country there is a very fitting proverb - it is similar to going round in a circle.) They already do this in Asia punishing families from someone who jumped in front of a train. And you pretty much know where the suicide rates go through the roof.
For me this is the stigmatization of suicide more and more. And in this Austrian science paper which I cited they wrote the best prevention of suicide is to destigmatize it. This is also absolutely my opinion. In this world we criminalize suicidal people because most of the peaceful methods are illegal. A result of that is that the suicide market is unregulated. And people die who might have had a better option. It would so much better to have liberal assisted suicide laws all over the world/ an official way to die peacefully. Why is this so hard to understand? The more you try to suppress this issue the more you are contributing to make it way worse.
