Testing purity of SN

Guys this might be a dumb question but what am I looking at here in terms of colour when testing purity? I see many colours?
And why two cups, do I drink what is in cup 2? What if I want to test before I actually do it (in case it's not pure)

Yes, testing needs to happen before any CTB plans are set (unless ofc you have a backup method). You can't CTB with it if it doesn't pass the test. Two cups to test (or pitchers, I used two pitchers) and two cups to CTB. Two different things. The test strips I used only tested for two things: nitrite and nitrate (the two pink/pinkish purple ones on top)… those are the only things you need to test. I'd say wait until you get a search bar & then look for more info on how to test, but that may take a while… there should be info on testing in the stickied threads and in the SN megathread, which you'll find in the suicide resource compilation megathread. Sry, that was the best I could come up with while half asleep, maybe others will chime in. But honestly, it's your third day here, familiarizing yourself with the site is the best thing you can do atp.

I feel there is a lot more to this than I thought and I feel kinda stupid for not understanding it or even how to navigate this site. But what you say helps. So I'm just testing at first and then if I am satisfied it is 97% or above purity I can properly do it?
Would that be just crushing it and dissolving in water? Would it still be okay if I do it (say) several months after testing?

And - last question sorry - what am I looking for colour wise? I'm confused as there are two strips and five colours each and a bunch of numbers

you want it to be exposed to as little air as possible. the longer it is exposed to air, the more it becomes nitrate instead

it might be better to wait until ready to use it before testing - unless you get two packages instead of one - either way, once you have opened it, you should put it back into an air tight container as soon as possible. it should be kept in a dark place, so generally at the bottom of a draw or something

No need to feel stupid lol, the site has a lot to offer but the way it's set up could be improved. The most informative stuff imo is in the suicide resource compilation megathread. That's the last stickied thread, stickied threads are right on the main page of this part of the site (suicide discussion) above the regular threads (but below the private discussion part). There will be testing info on the SN megathread thread there. Also, the more comments you write, the sooner they'll grant you a search bar. With the that you can find Vizzy's SN Bible and other info on how to test. You're only going to be looking at the top 2 pinkish colors.

But it's not like trying to overdose & hoping for the best, do not attempt with SN unless you are 100% sure that you want to CTB.
