It's being released on 6th January. I'm really excited to watch this when it's out. I only learned about near-death experiences recently and it's changed my perspective on everything - God, the afterlife, the nature of reality...

One of my favorite subjects. I think I've read nearly every single story on NDERF and that's the biggest archive on the net. Thank you for sharing, I'll keep my eye peeled for this.

Here's a link for anyone interested in the subject.

It looks really promising, thanks for sharing this! It will be interesting to hear their stories, near-death experiences are the closest we'll ever be to actually retelling and 'understanding' the experience of death, so it's such an interesting topic. If it can help shape even one person's perspective on death, it'll be brilliant!

Just curious. Someone on the forum should have similar, but no one post. Just failure attempts experience.

There are some videos on youtube about this and from people who have experienced this. Also a lot of books have been written about it.

There is some discussion if these are real or just hallucinations.

There was a book and a movie about it called "Heaven Is Real" but it was made up:

Not sure if I want to watch this. Currently I don't believe in any afterlife etc. and I think I don't want that to change lol.

Has anyone already seen it?

I'm currently watching it, it's a 6-episode mini series.

To avoid spoilers just in case:

- Near Death Experiences
- Mediums
- Signs From the Dead
- Seeing Dead People
- Reincarnation

I tried to watch it but to be honest it just stank of bullsh*t to me. I'm a believer that there's something more than us out there, but this all just seemed so fake.

It's shit. But that's just my opinion.

How has it changed your perspective on such things ?
I take the anecdotes with a grain of salt. None of it is scientifically verifiable. Our bodies release chemicals to deal with a near death state. That's partly why people do body modification suspension. They get high off of it. Those chemicals can account for the weird experiences as can their beliefs about god and the afterlife.

Tbh, I enjoyed it for what it was. Based on their personal account, it sounded like they people in these episodes (many different people interviewed) found their way to cope with life until death or the death of a loved one. I also like that each episode provides a counter argument to the authenticity of each episodes claim.

The NDE episode was by far the most interesting. Each person with an NDE went through some shit that in one way or another blew my mind. Between their account of the events (which, would require a fair amount of colluding were it to be fake) & the sense of relief it brought them after having had them, I can't find fault in something that brought them peace. Especially with some of the information & events that preceded/ followed the NDE, some things were were inexplicable. Life is pain & somehow these experiences helped them cope with that.

I wasn't a particular fan of the episodes on Mediums, I myself am skeptical of it in general, so I found it difficult to accept their perspective. Plus a few of their practices didn't read as authentic, so I can't speak to its credibility.

Signs from the Dead was a sad episode overall. Talking about how they've coped since the loss of a loved one, it explained how people used Mediums to help them identify signs their loved one still visits them or to communicate with them & share messages, while others turn to science; so there's a mix of scientific research & personal information/experiences.

Seeing Dead people recounts different people's experiences where they saw ghosts or figures & how they came to terms with the experience; people who go ghost/spirit hunting & dying people's accounts of seeing spirits.

The reincarnation episode was a trip. I found it really interesting to listen to people explain their memories of having lived before- in addition to other things I won't spoil, & the family's near frantic efforts to make sense of their child's "memories." It's unfathomable, yet they believe they've found proof. This particular episode sparked some questions about what the afterlife could look like, & the possibility that their is some truth to reincarnation.

Sometimes when they show people talking about near death experiences, they sound rehearsed and prepped and semi professional like actors.

They are making death and suicide more attractive for the past few years, even accessible while keeping up appearances. Few years back this forum wouldn't fly, there would be no knowledge of Sodium Nitrite and even shows like "13 Reasons Why" and this wouldn't crop up.

I'm halfway through. It's a well-made documentary series and the first episode certainly makes for a good watch. Episodes 2 and 3 drag a bit. Also their content was less believable than that of ep. 1 but that's not necessarily saying much...

:ahhha: I said the same thing! lol

Episodes 2 & 3 are harder to accept as "fact," & didn't do nearly as good a job appealing to my sense of reason. Actually, I found myself laughing at parts.

Glad you liked it. Now you have Netflix free for a month. I'm not into their shows anymore, but they do make good documentaries .

Luckily for you there's a whole world of superior shows waiting for you! Actually kind of jealous. I'VE SEEN THEM ALL.

*

Also one interesting thing about the near death experience episode was how climbers who fell off mountains were quoted as having blissful experiences on the way down, running counter to what you usually hear about jumping and just feeling terror and regret. I guess there's not really a way to test it though without ctb...

Finished the series. Ep. 4 was just sad to watch, ep. 5 started kinda dumb but ended kinda cool, by ep. 6 I think I'd had enough.

Well-made doc series providing plenty of food for thought but alas, for me, little substance.

3/5

It might be just me. But those NDE feel so fake! I could come up with one too!
(the truth is I've been in a comma for 2 days and it was just like sleeping, I don't remember anything. Not even a dream!)

I appreciate that you watched the whole thing before passing judgement. :)

I agree, episode 4 is depressing as shit. I felt for the people in that episode, they seemed desperate for anything to bring them comfort.

I would also give it a 3/5, would have been 4 if they removed the two Medium episodes.

I can appreciate what you went through as a lot of people don't see anything, though NDE experiences vary.

So I can't objectively agree that what these people experienced was fake.
