So, I got a piece of apple stuck in my throat (unfortunately not wind pipe). Survival instinct went into full power and I was panicking like you wouldn't believe and yeah...that damn survival instinct. And the apple didn't even have the decency to obstruct my wind pipe. Asshole apple.

Yeah but I don't think you struggle like that when you are hanging

Yeah, you're right... I just had so many thoughts cross my mind...weird humor I guess. I've had survival instinct kick in while practicing partial, but you're right, not that kind of panic. It's just amazing how bodies want to live when the brain doesn't.

So true. That's one of the reasons why I'm doing full suspension - the survival instinct won't be able to ruin anything because one I kick the chair, I'm a goner.

How did your survival kick in after partial? I feel like full suspension would be better bc you can't back out

Yeah, now I'm thinking that's the best way to go. I don't think my survival instinct will kick in anyway, I was facially disfigured. There is nothing worse than that

I'm afraid of pain during full suspension. Botching it somehow. It's the only reason I don't choose it...

Understandable. It'll probably be very painful at first. I've watched videos of full suspension and they all lose conciousness within 10 seconds, but If you don't do it right you can suffocate. :/

Not entirely true, it depends how you do full suspension. You said you're doing it from a pullup bar, for myself i'd be able to manage an escape.

Even from a tree with the noose a few feet down from the branch I could probably pull myself up and get free, although I could be wrong on that one.

True, but I've watched videos. It appears if your carotid arteries are completely compressed, you wouldn't have time to back out.

You can do a pullup/take away pressure from the noose and onto your arms and try to undo/wriggle free. Depending on where the pullup bar is you could put your legs onto a counter/shelf etc.

The noose is tightest obviously when it's holding your weight around your neck if you take the weigh off the noose, it won't be choking you as much and you have a good chance at making an escape.

You can remain in a choke half sunk in, in grappling indefinitely, a well placed choke can put you out in 5 secs so it really is a fine line.

Maybe I'll recosnider where I do it then.

Locking yourself in a room and burning it down is also not something you can back out of, but it is painful. Full suspension if your neck doesn't break is pretty painful.

Yes, but that isn't the point.

Not really.
Lol my survival instinct probably wouldn't kick in then. Blacking out will make me forget the anxiety and depression and I'd probably feel better

I feel like that would be easier to achieve with full
