Please be aware that I may have missed a lot of movies, songs, etc. that may consist of suicide and/or self-harm, so if you notice any that I have failed to include, feel free to let me know and I will update this list accordingly.

What qualifies something to be on this list? I can think of plenty of songs that heavily imply it, but maybe aren't so explicit. Here's one that is, though- Mr. Bellamy by Paul McCartney. Another one I'm thinking of is Intermission by the Scissor Sisters.

For songs, I'd say at least one of its main focuses should be on suicide for it to be on this list. Therefore, a single mention of it wouldn't qualify if the rest of the song had nothing to do with it.

I have a decent stash of Vocaloid songs about suicide/depression.

By the way, it's Bungou Stray Dogs, not Bungaku Stray Dogs. Is one of my favorite anime, along with Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

Typos will be the death of me.

Feel free to share any Vocaloid songs you know, since I'd like to listen to them.

There is another one that I know of that I didn't include, due to when I attempted to post the YouTube link it messed up the entire URL for some reason.

Here it is regardless. Probably one of my favorites.

Thanks for posting this list. I have 4 possible additions - 2 movies and 2 songs.

The Hours should definitely be on here. The movie opens with a suicide - Virginia Woolf's - and suicide is a theme throughout. The trailer really doesn't do the movie justice, but it explains the basic concept of the movie. Good stuff starts at 1:07 in the trailer.

Meryl Streep AND chainsmoking Nicole Kidman! 2 for the price of one! And that's not all! Stannis the Mannis makes an appearance too.

The Bridge documentary on suicides at the Golden Gate Bridge could also be added if you're including documentaries. Pretty much everyone knows it though, so listing it might be pointless.

The songs are "45" by Shinedown and a lesser-known song by My Chemical Romance, "Cemetery Drive". It's from the perspective of someone who knew a person who killed themselves.

I can recommend two films by Takeshi Kitano who is my favorite director, and where suicide is displayed in a peaceful way I really like, "Hana-bi" and "Sonatine".. There is also "Last Life in the Universe" by the thai director Pen-ek Ratanaruang where the male protagonist shows suicidal tendencies.. And finally there is the most dramatic (and maybe the most beautiful) movie I've seen in my life, "Lilja 4-ever", based on a real story about a Lithuanian girl who committed suicide at 16 after being sold as a sex-slave in Sweden in 2000.

Novel submission: "A long way down" by Nick Hornby

4 suicidal strangers end up meeting on a roof they planned to jump from on new years eve.

Basically a rooftop breakfast club for suicidal people instead of misbehaved teens in detention :p

The Wrist cutters is one of my all time faves, Suicide Room if I recall correctly is the polish? One where the boy meets the girl online, Ive only watched it twice, long time ago though, lost my English dubbed one >.<
also I recommend Kiss Me First, kinda similar to Suicide Room in a way except english spoken. TV series, I'm only up to 4th episode, started off slow but its getting interesting.
