  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I learned on Thursday that someone somewhat related to me killed themself. They were in their 60s with chronic health issues. They decided to stop eating. Their family and loved ones are having a hard time dealing with it, but they accepted that person's choice, they allowed the death to happen. I was somewhat suprised that people I know aren't so anti-choice, but I guess a chronically ill old person is the easiest to understand case.

I sort of wish they knew of other methods, stopping eating sounds painful.

As I posted earlier, the Jain religion allows death by starvation, at least for the old. Unless it's been taken down, there's a video on Youtube called something like "Jain woman starves self to death". It's been a while since I've seen it.

It does sound like a horrible way to go, the vsed method. I would rather the dying process be over quickly, personally. Rest in peace, at least they are free of their pain now. It sounds very dreadful being old with many health problems.

Yeah, they told me she knew of other methods and chose this. Not sure why, maybe because it's more "natural" than something like Nembutal.

I think that when you are really debilitated dying from emaciation is likely not miserable. The body loses the little vigour it had little by little, like drifting off to sleep. Dying from thirst, on the other hand, must be always be horrible.

They were on painkillers and stuff too, so I assume that numbed it a bit...

Someone I am close to died this way. While on heavy painkillers for a medical condition that would have killed them very painfully. As far as I they were willing to share, the painkillers took all apetite away and starvation just meant to loose the habit of eating.

I hope this brings you some comfort.

Also, I think the person you are talking about contributed to the cause of making suicide a choice rather than taboo by being brave enough to tell their relatives.

I've considered this method since I'm quite an expert at not eating because anorexia but I feel like it's probably pretty much impossible to pull of. at some point instinct would take over&I'd order mcdonalds or sth. it's different when you're bed-ridden &on a lot of meds. the hunger is supposed to be pretty tolerable&after a while people actually start to feel euphoric, then tired and just fall asleep. but again, pretty much impossible for the average person to pull off.

Yes, I think SN or N is the best way to do it, if you can of course. (And I think if you don't have the money to buy even SN or you don't have a place to order to, I know it sucks but you probably don't have the independence to pull off something like starvation without someone noticing either :/ I gues hanging or jumping? IDK, I haven't read into this sort of thing, as I can do SN (and could do N, but it's not worth the money, and I want the chance for a doctor to save me if I regret it, LOL)

I'm sorry to hear about the anorexia T_T, I never had a bad issue with it, but there were periods in my life where I struggeled with it for a bit, and it was no fun. (Well of course it is fun to be skinny, and I almost felt "cleaner" not eating, but the way your body gets after not heating for a bit is no fun really :/)

Anyways, IDK what to say else, LOL. I wish you the best!~ <3
