  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Its a bit of an odd thought yes..

But honestly. My philosophy is that I choose to die but so many people have conditions where they don't have that same choice. Some of these people want to live. So since I'm already registered as an organ donor, I wondered if there's any suicide methods that would potentially leave my organs with a higher chance of viability for transplant.

Weird question I know but... I guess this is the only place to ask

No but like, it's not an odd thought at all??? I was wondering abt that a lot too. I want to help other people, even if I'm unable to do so while I'm alive. I feel like most methods are out for obvious reasons, but a lot of the mechanical ones are pretty dubious too since organs dont really survive that long. Since most of us want to minimalize the chance of "getting saved"(failing) planning usually ends with the body getting discovered much later. I feel like at that point most organs would be unusable for a transplant. However, I'm no specialist so I'm not quite sure abt the time constraints :/
I'd love to know too, for future ref

I wish it were the case , but it seems unlikely at best. Even if one doesn't use a drug, the body will be dead too long for organs to be harvested. Maybe skin and corneas can be saved, but only if you're found very soon after.
Now I imagine we could just fine , if doctor assisted suicide was legal and free to anyone who wants it, but that would be too much like making sense...

Before I found this site and ordered N, I used to think about shooting myself in a hospital parking lot so they could have a better chance at saving my organs, but with my luck I'd just end up a vegetable.

If Voluntary Euthanasia was legal, just imagine how many more people that need organs could be saved from those who also happen to be donors?

I thought the same thing
I would love to donate my organs but I have a feeling that will be just about impossible no matter the method. Then I thought could I donate my body to science somehow. Like have someone dissect my brain to find out what the hell was wrong with me to be able to help others. I don't think that's very likely either. I did however come up with something that might be helpful. I'd like to donate my skeleton to a university or something like that.

As far as I'm aware (and this is only passing knowledge, potentially entirely incorrect) very few found bodies have viable organs for donation. I believe that the most common "collections" occur when someone dies in hospice where the organs can be harvested before the body's blood supply stagnates (which happens quite quickly, of course). There is probably a lot more to it than that, but as far as I know if a body has been dead for even a few hours the viability of their organs declines rapidly.

Nope, organs need oxygen and blood supply until they're removed for transplant. This is why organ donors are typically declared brain dead in hospital and remain on life support until that time comes.

That's actually maybe the most viable example, however it also very significantly increases the chances of surviving the gunshot- the time to get to the hospital is a huge factor in whether people survive gunshot attempts, so you really increase the chances of surviving as a vegetable or with half you face blown off or with a big chunk of your skull missing.

Sorry, but no. Organs are not harvested from those who commit suicide.

The only way to accomplish this is to fail in your ctb attempt and wind up brain dead. Then your family may choose organ donation and your organs will be harvested while you are kept alive by machine but brain dead. Once the organs are harvested, the life support will be removed.

None of this applies, of course, if you use poison (including overdoses.)
