  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

What are some myths going around suicide methods that you know of?
I've been researching various methods for a while now, on this site and others including forums, scientific reports and articles, books etc and it's very hard to find any sort of concensus about anything. For example, the main method I'm considering is full suspension hanging because it's easy to set up, has one of the highest lethality and basically we just know it works.
But one source will say it takes up to 30 minutes to become unconscious, another will say it happens under a minute. One source says there's a lot of thrashing around, another says based on videos there's minimal movement etc.
So what is myth and what is reality when it comes to different CTB methods? I feel the more I research and read the less I understand!

That's what some people say, but others say you can hang without losing consciousness for like half an hour!

Probably depends on the knot, location, and pressure

Yup, and this is what I can't find consistent info about :(
I've tied a hangman's noose for one length and working on the slip knot for another just to see what may work better if I decide to go through with it. Currently my method is full. But open to others should the means arise

I see, maybe some information here:
Yep I've read that one :)
I see, maybe some information here:
Yeah actually that's one of the worst sources I've read because it contradicts itself several times. It doesn't give any concrete answers of where the knot should go and keeps quoting some Stone guy who says to put the knot on the right side to compress the carotid artery which is foolish since you have two carotid arteries, one on each side of your neck. Placing the knot anywhere but centre back will give unequal pressure on the sides of your neck and probably leave one blood vessel more open.

The time it takes for a person to die depends on different things. Do not trust anything, find out the facts about the method first because reality is an illusion.

Yeah this is my whole point...there don't seem to be any facts. I've been researching for a while. All the information is contradictory.

Thanks but it just seems to be a table of contents? I can't click on anything...
