Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I'm frustrated with the way the mental health system works. When you go to any mental health doctor they test for suicidal ideation. Once they find out you have suicidal thoughts they try to solve them. The problem is that feeling suicidal isn't an illness that needs solving it's the result of other underlying problems like depression, anxiety, or trauma.

I don't need doctors to help take away my suicidal thoughts. They aren't a problem they help me cope. The things it's as long as I know suicide is an option I can escape the people who scare me or threaten me. Death allows for the escape from my trauma.

Stopping suicidal thoughts isn't helpful because then I'm trapped with my fear and trauma. What I need is help feeling safe again, if I can get that my suicidal thoughts will decline. If I can regain confidence in myself on top of that my suicidal thoughts will dissipate all together.

Fix the disease not the symptoms

Problem with just trying to stop suicide is that ultimately that isn't the biggest (or even not) a problem for the person but the suffering and pain they are going through. Suicide is a coping mechanism and just getting rid of that is just going to mean the person can't cope and feel worse than they already do. I don't think suicide shouldn't be seen as a problem at all as we were forced into this life so its fair for others to leave if they want to but ultimately mental health help should be focusing on symptoms that are causing suffering, not suicide prevention.

I guess some people have ego-dystonic (as opposed to ego-syntonic) ideation, but I question how many are really like this, as suicidal ideation and behavior are generally responses to prolonged pain and suffering.
