I spoke to my out of state sister by phone this morning. She told me that the 28 year old son of a couple that she and her husband are friends with recently killed himself by hanging. Successful, engaged to be married. No apparent history of depression or other mental illness. His parents are so distraught they are seeking medical counseling. As I told my sister, "you never know". Little does she know about me.

Some people are good at hiding their depression. I think I am pretty good at it, too, not that there is anyone to hide it from, mind you. But, if you met me, I doubt you would think I'm actively planning my ctb, getting things in order, that kind of thing. I just go with the flow, so to speak. I'm pretty calm knowing what I have to do. I wouldn't tell anyone or even drop hints, even if I had someone to tell.

Rest in peace. I always envy those who died by hanging. It does make it sound easier when you hear about so many people dying from this method, but in reality it is difficult and it is a risky method which is what holds me back from attempting.

A lot of people keep thoughts of suicide to themselves as suicide is so stigmatised after all. If euthanasia was legalised for everyone then people would know in advance, they would have time to come to terms with the persons decision and they would not have to be shocked by someone ctb. It is the society that is the problem as they deny us the right to die.

It's amazing how good people can hide their true feelings from family in particular, I have been hiding my true feeling for years, but time is running out. I'm always sad to hear of the distress that's left behind and I think that's what stops me.

No one could tell with me, unless they asked, then I'd just tell them like it's nothing, then they'd get all uncomfortable and not know what to say, then I find it amusing!

There ain't nothing wrong with taking the laughs ANY way you can grab them, especially in our cases.

I drop hints all the time all over Facebook and no one gives a fuck.

Around 220 friends/family members. Almost always zero reactions/messages.

Most people are good at hiding depression. The people that talk about suicide or admit to thinking about it are usually the ones who want to get talked out of it. This poor guy was probably suffering for a very long time. So sad, RIP.

They suddenly realise you're not playing the same game as them, and they don't know what their next move should be! OK... and they shuffle off.

I hope he found peace in the end. Also the very act of putting on a fake public persona can cause a lot of misery and a lot of time is wasted hiding your secret.

I think I'm easy with telling people 1) incase they have a solution to my pain and 2) to reinforce the idea that no one cares if I die
