I have been having suicidal thoughts for a while and I wanted some of your thoughts on suicide by fire. The idea to me is that its something thats fairly easy to do.

I would chain myself up to a lamppost, pour fuel over myself and set myself alight with a lighter. The point being its easy to get and its harder to treat. I fantasise about it as a form of catharsis and I want the pain.

Well, you will die.
It will be horrific, but you will die.

Any better options available?

Just so to know, I'm pretty sure self immolation is one of, if not the most, painful methods. I know you said that y wanted the pain but it's brutally painful.

Might want to plan a few details - you hear of the Buddhist monk who did this? (Political protest)
He actually succeeded. Others have tried and failed.
Without that incredible mastery of meditation tho, one would likely begin to thrash and scream, someone may come to the rescue - then a bit worse off than before.
Even if you desire pain, that pain will be different than you can probably imagine, as nerves are melting etc
If pain is basically no issue, maybe consider a high jump or opening a main artery or something?
Im wondering if people can peacefully fall asleep in the garage permanently, maybe just connecting a tube to the exhaust and hot box in the car if there is no garage?

I mean, it probably would kill you and whether or not you can deal with the pain is only up to you. I'd rethink the whole lamppost thing though. Fire is noticable. The light, the warmth, the smell, the smoke pillar, not to mention that you'd likely scream. It would almost certainly alert people who'd come to rescue you and having to live with the aftermath of severe burns... I could think of more pleasant things. I have a hard time imagining less pleasant things.

I've been thinking of this too. Surely if I cover myself in petrol and then light up, it will be pretty quick? Yes it will be extremely painful but theres no going back

I don't think you realize how painful it will be. It's by far the most painful known suicide method. And if you fail, the sequelae are unimaginably terrible. Are you sure you wanna exit this way?

There are plenty of ways to die which can satisfy those conditions that dont involve this level of pain.
honestly impaling your groin on a spike and bleeding out might be less painful than this, i just dont see the point.

No if its outside, I would die over a period of hours after all the fuel burns out probably. If inside, smoke inhalation would knock me out. So not quick

Ease. Its a lot easier to flick a lighter than jump of a bridge or stab yourself.

Please spare yourself this agony. Not to mention that should you be saved by the intervention of a third party you may well endure appalling pain if you are kept alive.

its easy to flick a lighter, its easy to step off the curb onto the street, its easy to to jump on a sofa. the acts themselves are all simple and easy, its the circumstances that make it difficult. its hard to step off bridge and plummet 200 feet so your body can become a splatter on the ground, its hard to jump onto a spike that will impale you, its hard to set yourself on fire so you can scream endlessly while you burn. the SI always kicks in, and the worse the pain is that you are setting yourself up for, the worse the SI will be. whatever you choose to do, i wish you the best.

Bear in mind this method isn't as fast or effective as you would think. Aaron Bushnell famously lit himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington D.C. earlier this year to protest the war in Gaza. He poured gasoline all over himself beforehand. He was fully in a blaze in a few seconds, but he didn't die until he was taken to the hospital. He almost lived, actually. You only need a few core internal organs (brain, heart, lungs, etc.) to stay mostly intact in order to live.

Also, your chances of survival go up significantly if someone can find a fire extinguisher within a minute or two, and those are more common than you'd think.

Choose a different method.

Thats an awful way to go out!!!!
I have suicidal thoughts due to the suffering in life.
Why would I want to go out suffering?
I wouldn't do it.
Imagine the months or years of physical pain if you survive.
Too many variables & thing that can go wrong.
There's 3 methods I wouldn't use:
Fire, drowning & gunshot🌹💔

I deserve the pain for how I hurt others. And I want to destroy my body that I hate so much

I've researched this method to some extent. The recent self immolation protestors Aaron Bushnell and Maxwell Azzarello both died a few hours after they first set themselves aflame. Bushnell only seemed conscious long enough to yell his political slogan a few times. I've read that once the nerve endings die it's not very panful. Both of them had been sprayed with a fire extinguisher. Azzarello seemed to languish a little more. I did see a vid of a Russian guy that attempted to self-immolate and was running around screaming. I think the cases where people suffer more is not using enough accelerant to make it fast. If you look into burn recovery stories for accidents it's fairly typical that the recovery process is much more excruciating than the initial burn. The risk of survival of this method is spending months or years in and out of hospitals getting painful skin grafts and looking like a monster.

But after a couple seconds you can't scream because you've breathed fire, burned out your vocal cords & lungs due to 1000 degree heat being inhaled.
Personally I just can't imagine the self made "hell"!! But that's just me🌹💔
