I'm thinking of committing suicide by going out in the middle of the desert and waiting for the heat to kill me. seems like you would just pass out, then die. i don't know though, anyone?

At least it will look like an accident since you never hear of anybody intentionally dying by being too hot.

not sure if what i experience is classified as heat stroke or heat exhaustion because i've never asked a doctor, but whatever it is, it's excruciating. luckily it doesn't happen to me as much now as when i was a kid. i've never been cooked alive but i imagine being cooked alive feels vaguely similar. it's sort of like your own blood is boiling you from the inside out. wanted to shave all of the hair on my head off just to escape the pain from the body heat it was trapping against my scalp.

i can't say how long it would take you to pass out if you did this. i would not recommend this method.

Someone who attempted this would likely experience significant respiratory distress, tachycardia, dizziness, heart palpitations, swelling of the hands & feet, and/or seizures. Don't recommend. Some people would just pass out straight away, most won't.

I read an article a few years ago about it. Being cooked alive seems to sum it up. I hope everyone finds a better path than that.

I'd much rather die from the cold rather than heat.
This doesn't sound like a great way to go, and I'm not even the type of person who wishes to go out as peacefully as most other people do.

I lived in the desert when I was younger and heat stroke wasn't uncommon. To answer your question: yes, it is painful. Extremely. It's anyone's guess how long it could take - perhaps a couple days of starving, sweating, shaking, thirst, pain, hunger, burning alive. Imagine hell - that's what it feels like. I don't recommend it.

A heatwave recently hit my town.
I decided to go everywhere fully clothed because I have fresh self harm scars all over and Im so ashamed of them. Didnt help that my clothes arent white or otherwise light colour.
I was sweating so much I could collect the perspiration from my forehead and drink it. As someone said, dizziness, rapid heart rate, everytime I blew water in my face it got a little better and then the heat hit my face again and it felt like someone smashed my head with a brick. After a few hours of being outside doing stuff and about 10 - 20 minutes since it started happening I was so weak I could go home just barely. I spent the evening lying naked and facedown on my tiled floor and my head still hurts.
I can imagine if I got an actual heatstroke it would be some nasty shit. Id much prefer freezing to death.

thanks for your input, i decided to try another method. just afraid of them because if you fail at hanging, the consequences can be worse

Not necessarily. Heat stroke can cause irreversible brain damage.

yeah, so can hanging--which is least painful and more of a guarantee to die?
I was replying to your part about consequences of failing being worse with hanging, since heat stroke can have the same consequences. Hanging has the potential to be quick, painless, and effective if done right though.

Yeah I would prefer hypothermia over heatstroke (or hyperthermia). In fact, if I had to die in the summer and didn't have a firearm, then I would choose jumping over the grand canyon since it would be more than sufficient height and also I would be landing on jagged surfaces (rocks) and likely die immediately.

I have never heard of anybody attempting suicide this way.

Anyway, I doubt it'll work. I mean, it occasionally reaches 120 degrees in Phoenix, Arizona. Yet almost all of the city's 1.66 million residents survive those days.

It would work. People die out in the desert when in their own.

As much as I hate freezing weather, and would rather die when it's warm out, you would probably have better luck and less pain with freezing to death.

A bottle of whiskey will help you feel warm, but it's not keeping your body temp at normal levels. Drink enough to make you sleep well, and you will eventually freeze to death.

They'd die if they were in a car with windows shut. I've never heard of suicide by hot car though.

I think almost everybody who gets stuck in the desert by themselves survived. You just hear about the people who die. And frankly it's unlikely you'll be in the desert by yourself for very long. Within 24 hours, somebody will probably drive by, find you passed out from the heat and take you to the hospital.

The only good thing about this method is that nobody will even suspect it was an attempted suicide, so you almost certainly won't get locked in a mental ward if you get "saved."

That sucks, the only so called easy way to kill yourself is n, and it's illegal. It's like they want us to suffer

I mean it doesn't sound too bad. I'm not gonna say my country but tommorow it's gonna be 115degrees and this is a description of dying by heatstroke
"You feel lightheaded and faint. Your vision dims and narrows. You feel wobbly and strange—the onset of heat syncope (or orthostatic hypotension), a temporary loss of consciousness from falling blood pressure"
I don't think that sounds too bad just uncomfortable....

Not really an option in the UK. The closest you'd get is wondering on an exceptionally wide sandy beach in Dorset whilst the tide is out.
