Suicide by caffeine overdose

I remember reading a news article about someone who ctb by overdosing on caffeine. I can't remember whether it was with energy drinks or caffeine pills, but he died not long after. A friend of his mentioned seeing blood in his vomit and blood coming from his nose... why would that happen? And how much caffeine do you need to consume for it to be fatal?

(Note: I wouldn't ctb this way, just really curious)

Ah this is interesting. 70 cans? Thats a lot to drink.. probably varies depending on your age and weight etc but I'm sure if you mix energy drinks with caffeine pills you wouldn't need as many cans

Yeah, heart attack seems obvious but when I read about the blood coming from his nose and in his vomit, wasn't sure if that was caused by a heart attack or something else

apparently it takes approximately 10g of caffeine to be lethal as well. I just looked it up. That's quite a lot. Bodyweight is a factor so it could take a bit more or less.

And you'd have to consume it in a short amount of time (hours, not days)

In army, a guy nearly passed away with this method.
Instead of filling up his bottle with water, he filled it up with red bull only.

During our 42KM night march, guy collpased. Was in a really bad shape.

Just that different people react differently. So what could kill someone may just be a needle prick to another. It's hard to come up with the perfect formula for this method.

You can die from flooding your ingestion system with caffeine and add exhaustion to your list. A friend of a friend died from staying up for a full week without sleep and nothing but coffee. They were gaming....
You should also starve yourself, will speed up the process. Could also die from dehydration as well by doing this.

I don't even know how I'm not dead from this, I'm probably unknowingly killing myself with the excessive amounts of caffeine I drink and I'm not even trying too... I drink a shit-ton of coffee and energy drinks

Seriously, people have died from just about everything. People have died from falling out of bed. People have even died from tripping over banana peels.

I still am not going to put a slippery banana peel on the floor, and deliberately trip over it in order to try to kill myself.

How many??? I remember in college, I was up to like 8 coffees a day, and it messed me up emotionally. I had to taper down to 2 coffees a day by substituting a coffee for green tea (it has caffeine but a lot less) for a day, then going down from 8 beverages to 7 and then continuing that process until I was at 2. That way, I didn't get withdrawal.

Caffeine is the most heavily abused yet, we already ever hear about anyone dying from caffeine. Do the math, overdosing in a conventional way is not viable as the fatal overdose rate is generally considered 75-100cups for the average person(this is probably on the conservative side). If you wanted to die from a caffeine overdose, the easiest way would be to buy strong pure caffeine power which can cause death in as little as a table spoon. Caffeine causes death for the same reasons most stimulants cause death, it over stimulates you. Large overdoses of caffeine cause the same side effects of large overdoses of most stimulants such as hallucinations, delusions and even psychosis.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but this would have such a low chance of succeeding it's not worth trying.

If you are drinking coffee a caffeine overdose probably won't work. I would be surprised if Consuming large quantities of caffeine powder did not kill you ie it certainly has a high chance of killing you. I can't imagine it being pleasant. While I have not read many studies on the subject, I would imagine side effects like psychosis, severe stomach pain and so on would be likely.

Do you realize how much caffeine is in 10g? That over 100cups of coffee at once. It's not surprising that would kill you at all. Even that much water at once would kill you(100cups). I would guess it would be a reliable method but unpleasant. It's like death from overdosing on cocaine without the euphoria. I would research more to be sure though.

Maybe mix it up with benzo or other sedative. Maybe even drugs?
