Hello everyone, I just wanted to get this off my chest. I mentioned it briefly in the public chat on Sunday, Aug 10, but I thought I'd take some time now to try to convey myself better.
It doesn't seem fair that we don't have easy, legal access to assisted suicide. I worry that if such options ever become available, it won't be because society genuinely cares about those suffering. Instead, it will come when the government decides it's financially convenient
because a person's death means saving money on disability benefits and mental health support.
It's painful to think that, to those in power, my death might be seen not as a tragedy but as a small cost-saving measure.
Not for the good of society, not for me, and not for my family but for the government's bottom line.
Right now, it feels like suicide is ignored or dismissed, because each death means one less person relying on public resources—like the taxes that fund benefits for people like me. It's as if our struggles are invisible, and our value reduced to a financial burden.
This is why I fear that true, compassionate access to assisted suicide will only come when it benefits the system yup and not the people who actually need help.
