Hi. I have a very severe case of Chronic fatigue syndrome, also known as ME. It is absolutely unbearable. Medically assisted suicide is legal in my country, however I was declined because there aren't any specialists here that specialize in CFS/ME. This Illness isn't taken seriously enough, and since I will be ending my life soon anyways, I'd like to use it to promote awareness. There are millions suffering from this illness and there is zero help, and frankly no one gives a shit about us. Any suggestions on how to make an impact? I want to help others with this illness.

I don't have a constructive suggestion, but I empathize with you. Being any kind of chronic sick can make you a burden to others (not saying you are). Even physicians and other health care workers seem to dislike working with chronic illness sufferers. Like how the industry just cut chronic pain patients' medication due to policy shifts but then offered them no viable alternatives. But when we mention suicide, all of a sudden they start talking about there being sufficient options, alternatives already. Hypocrites. Want us out of their hair, but won't even let us leave.

Wish you the best.

I read more about chronic fatigue the other day...I didn't realise just how cruel an illness it is till I read the article. I'm sorry for all you are suffering.

I'm not sure if it's possible to raise awareness with CTB though. Maybe if you have a blog? Or is there an organisation in your country? Or can you write to medical organisations in your country?

I would personally like to campaign for assisted dying, but I also know that my wishes will be dismissed because of my mental illness. Like I can't be certain I want to die because I'm mentally ill. Even if I've wanted to die for 30 years.

Anyway, here is the article. You could use it and the organisations for chronic fatigue to write to doctors and raise awareness. ...

Yes! They use the label "mentally ill" as an excuse to dismiss anything we say/report because we're sick and irrational. Common tactic of groups of humans who have power over others. The gripes of the less powerful can be ignored/dismissed because they don't have the authority to be recognized. :(

Ever notice how super-powerful people--CEO's, politicians, judges...--who exhibit the very so-called personality disorders many of us get locked up for keep getting away with their aggressions? They have money and power and influence. The mental health industry can't attack them.
