  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

So sad for the couple, this should not happen if only euthanasia and assisted suicide were legal and respected.

It is horrible how people even have to resort to methods like that in the first place. Nobody should have to die such an agonising death. Rest in peace.

Absolutely disgusting that this poor man will be sitting in a prison cell for two years amongst rapists, murderers, and violent criminals, solely because the love of his life didn't want to fester with terminal cancer. Keep in mind there are no euthanasia options whatsoever in the UK, even for the terminally ill, so situations like this can lead people to desperation.

This man has lost everything he cherished, his wife, his lovely garden, his relations with other family members, yet these troglodytes are locking him up and forcing him to suffer more as a punishment for what was likely the hardest and most tragic thing he's ever had to do in his life.

The laws surrounding euthanasia are completely outdated and backwards, they need to be reformed before more people end up in dire straits and resort to grisly and unpleasant actions out of sheer desperation.

Luckily the sentence is a suspended one, people should not have to be put in this position. We are meant to be a civilised society, with things like this it shows we are not.

Thank goodness the sentence was suspended. Thank goodness.

Like everyone else said, it never should have come to this in the first place.

I didn't read the whole article as it's kinda triggering for me but could he not have overdosed her with morphine or something instead?!

I'm guessing if he had access to it he would have done, you wouldn't choose to do that to someone you love.

I don't know this has a weird vibe to me. She didn't sign or write a suicide note. Surely in that circumstance you would make sure that would make sure that people were aware it was a decision taken by themselves if their partner is involved, just in case the other person survives.
Also he couldn't live without her but here he is over a year later and he's still going.
Just feels off to me.
But yes Euthanasia should be an accessible thing, especially in those kind of circumstances.
