I was a menace at my SAIP unit and was the reason for a major design change in the units and all future units. All the lights had glass covers that you could rip out and I did just that. I would move furniture, climb onto window seals, stand ontop of doors, climb onto shelves, and loop in other clients to guard me and help barricade rooms so I could rip the lights out, smash them, and cut myself. I destroyed over a dozen light covers and bulbs in my time there, going so far as to ingest a bunch of glass once.
I also managed to takeover half the unit with two other kids, steal walkies from staff, and break a bunch of shit. Almost got a riot charge for that one but surrendered when the police came. I never hurt other staff or kids, just myself during all this.
I also escaped the highest level of care my state could provide. I was 2:1 within arms length of my staff on high risk, and lived in my own mini unit. I worked real hard to gain cafeteria privileges, to where my two staff would walk me to the cafeteria and I ate lunch there. I was good for some time to build trust and encourage the staff to relax, then I ran. I escaped by jumping up onto the serving station and leaping into the kitchen, then running out the back delivery doors. I scaled a chain link fence and was free. After wandering around for a bit, I made my way to an overpass and was going to jump. SI kicked in though and I had a long standoff with police before getting ripped down as I was about to jump.
I also escaped another time when out on a doctors appointment. While waiting for the medical transport I bolted from staff into a busy road, got hit by a car, and continued running to a 6-story parking garage. Once I got to the top I cut myself, and tried to work up the courage to jump. Police got called and it turned into this big long ordeal to where I was again ripped off. They brought me back to the unit, and there I managed to get a hold of a cops gun which prompted me to get the lights beat out of me, and I was restrained then heavily sedated.
Another notable mention is me running away from my staff on yet another off unit doctors appointment. Expect this went real south because I got so much blood drawn I was out of it. I ended up running the wrong way, into the lower portion of the parking garage and the staff was FAST. Like so fast I had to leap up onto a car to avoid getting caught. I had no way to escape as both staff were there, so I stomped out the windshield of the car and used the glass to harm myself. Cops came and one of them snatched my ankle and drug me through the broken windshield and I was detained, but brought back to the unit.
This just touches the tip of the iceberg honestly. Ive been to treatment 6 different times and I spent almost 3 straight years at a SAIP unit. I did and witnessed a lot of insane stuff.
