I vaguely remember reading that you're not supposed to stir the SN with a metal spoon. Is this true? Are you meant to use a plastic/wooden one? Or am I hallucinating having read that.

Sodium nitrite is an oxidizer and some oxidizers can react with metal. Although sodium nitrite is not one of those, you can always play it safe as alternatives such as plastic, wood, or glass are easy to get a hold of.Similar threads
