• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

It's not selfish at all. At the end of the day, the person dying is you yourself and not anyone else and as much as they depend on you, with time they'll move on. Whoever says it selfish must not know how it feels like to feel that way and ironically say it selfishly out of their own desires. No one can stop you from anything.

Well by nature… sure, you end your suffering and there's more people than we mostly think struck by sadness, guilt, grief, anger… i would be hurt forever if say one of my brothers would CTB… that would be huge trigger to leave myself, making my 'forever' rather futile… also we deprive them from clearing things up and have a decent goodbye… the good thing is there's no guilt about the 'selfishness' either….

Suicide is by nature selfish. It's about your own good and doing what is best for you. There's nothing wrong with that, btw.

As Existentialgoof would say, I would much rather be labeled as selfish than insane.

Sure it could be perceived as a selfish act, but I perceive it as selfish to hold someone suffering against their will too.

I definitely don't think it's selfish, but even if I were to play devils advocate, that doesn't change the fact that suicide prevention and forcing somebody to live is also selfish. People who make that claim are hypocritical and the reason that suicide is de facto illegal has less to do with the alleged correctness of their opinion but purely it's a "might = right" situation. They don't want to discuss the actual ethics involved because all they have are emotional manipulation and thinly veiled force. And many of us suffer as a result.

Humans are inherently selfish. It's a statement which comes from selfish people, often with the intention of trying to guilt trip you into not committing suicide.

If someone is experiencing mental torment that is so severe that it makes them want to die, then it is actually selfish to want them to continue suffering.

I don't think it's selfish. To tell someone it's selfish is, well, selfish itself and extremely unhelpful. It's kicking someone when they're already down.

No, what I see as selfish is wanting to force people to suffer no matter what in this existence that was imposed in the first place, I see so much cruelty in how I cannot just have the option to just simply cease existing in peace and never suffer ever again even know I never would had chosen any of this. I see it as the most terrible tragedy how this existence of unnecessary suffering was even imposed at all, I'd always prefer to not exist than be burdened with this existence suffering all for the sake of it just to be tortured by old age and cease existing anyway, all I wish for is peace from this existence.

It isn't. Anyone who wants to keep us alive despite living through an unbearable hell is selfish. Who else but yourself can experience your despair and anguish?

After all, no one cares about you at all. They're only interested in maintaining their beliefs and not really helping.

When a person is asking for help and living a life alone and without help, isn't that selfish too?

Im a permanently conflicted on this
I told this viewpoint to my moms friend who was a few years older than me
He had a friend, since high school, hang himself in my mons friends house while he went on vacation and kind of tried ti ignore hid suicidal ideation because he felt troubled by it for so long and felt powerless
So the friend said something ominous and my moms friend left anyway. Hr hung himself while he was away. As i said they were roommates

I told him, when i was about 21, that suicide is selfish. He had a very, very heated reaction.

He vehemently told me that no, it is not ajd it IS selfish to feel such a way. And that if somebody is suffering, its selfish to make it about yourself

Hiwever u struggle because if my sisters did such, i wouldn't be able to refrain from a severe emotional reaction that would destroy my life

I am conflicted. I think if to truly know a person thought it out and be able ti go with warning and that that could negate this

The offense he felt for his best friend when i said that shocked me and i will never degrade a person who does such with that term again

My phone is severely broken. Sorry for typos
