Next after shooting yourself or being injected with a lot of morfin (euthanasia) I'd say jumping is potentially the next best thing.

Jumping (supposed it's from sufficient height (150feet/50 meters+ and not into water) leads to instant and painless death - right?

So far so good, BUT... Jumping has a lot of other downsides imo, but these downsides could potentially be avoided if planned carefully. The downsides imo are:

1. You need roof access or access to an apartment high up.

2. You have to jump quite quickly before people notice you (I'd really like to sit in peace and prepare myself instead of just being forced to jump right away).

3. It will most likely to some extent cause trauma to the people (even children) who sees your corpse.

4. It's kind of an "ugly" way to go out imo - like in a city full of grey cinder blocks compared to let's say a cliff somewhere surrounded by nature.

So... Ideally imo would be a cliff or a mountain somewhere you can be in peace and maybe drink some alcohol and play some music to prepare yourself without people seeing you.

But where in the hell do you find such place... I live in Northern Europe where it's all flat, but I wouldn't mind traveling to another country - which might be necessary. There is also Beachy Head in southern England, which might be an option, but is the surface hard or "sandish" there? In other words, is death 99%+ guaranteed there?

One can also plan a "hiking" trip to the Alps (Southern-Europe) or something. Should be possible to find a good and peaceful spot or what do you think?

Please share your thoughts and opinions on the topic - thank you.

Jumping is very scary, and the body looks disgusting. Not a peaceful method, that's why I stopped thinking of it and bought SN.
"Peaceful" in the sense that there is no suffering - besides from the 2-3 seconds where you are falling and might be scared.

I've been through this process of considering all that's involved in jumping... obviously I had my own thoughts...

There's a few key things I thought about so wanted to share ... also why do we choose jumping when the jump itself isn't what we need p_p

1) Traveling is an option, also been to beachy head, it's water and sand and cliff rock, it's possible you might survive, others have survived similar falls while others most likely drown after several impacts while falling... not exactly a clean exit (I think lots of people in some way respect themselves and how others might see them upon death and don't choose to jump - depends how courageous you are I suppose) - also finding where to jump along the miles of coastline is not a nice job before jumping (how on earth would you relax after figuring out where the hell to, you know... go!)

2) Night time is probably quite important time to go in built up areas (early morning like 2-4am might be better as no one is out, you might only get seen by 1 person on the street who calls an ambulance and the hospital staff) - researching a building as well (unless you jump off a balcony in a hotel... or off a roof top garden and aren't bothered by guests) is useful, taking the time to visit tall building and see if you might need bolt cutters for when the moment arrives might be important.

May warmth and happiness and the force be with you x

I suggest avoid jumping method, it can be extremely painful.
If you survive, your life could become even worse.
I recommend SN or hanging method.

Fear of survival is so big with me, whichever method I am contemplating. Particularly if it puts me in a condition which makes further attempts impossible.

"I'd say jumping is potentially the next best thing" REALLY ?! That sickening thud as you hit the floor.....the absolute terror of falling....no thanks!

All the things you listed plus the fear of possible survival or prolonged painful death are what prevent the jumping method from being the next best thing for me.

IF you're going to jump, make sure it's from a very high height. If it's anything under than 150ft you're risking serious pain and survival

But once you get to around 150ft or above, as long as you fall onto a hard surface, you're good.

Personally if I was gonna jump, I'd do it at somewhere like the grand canyon. 4000ft in the air, you'd spend about 15-20 seconds scared but it would be instant death upon hitting the ground, definitely.

I'd say +100 meters, but I agree: there will be no open coffin. The thing that also puts me off: I've read survivors telling they were thinking 'omg what am I doing, I don't want to do this' (or something similar) halfway down. Maybe SI kicking in, but still...

EDIT: 3) The sciency bit... you will need a building tall enough for you to be able to gain speed as you fall, until you reach maximum velocity. 70+ meters I think (don't forget about wind resistance and baggy clothing as well) - this might ensure that the speed of the fall is enough. Angle of fall is also important. Overall jumping can be quite problematic as it's for these reasons access to tall buildings is limited to mostly the staff or residents of the buildings...

Oh yeah... make sure you wear a backpack that's full of lead or something if you weigh more like a tennis ball than a bowling ball...

I'm more of a bowling ball (200lbs+ 6ft) than a tennis ball (e.g. 65kg 5'3).

Probably SI.

That's why you need to be inebriated I think. It's what puts me off jumping and makes me want to do train.

various medical and scientific sources posits 100ft as the jumping height onto a hard surface for a minimum 90% instant fatality rate. it's a good place to start.
however, like a lot of other people here i would suggest going up to 150ft or higher just for that bit of security. a failed jumping attempt is one of the worse thing that can happen since you can get serious brain damage and become permanently paralyzed.
i think jumping is easier than some other method due to the irreversibility of it. if you close your eyes and sprint off of a roof, there's a little anyone can do to save you. but it's also so difficult to silence your survival instincts when it turns out that you have to look at your prospective fall or climb a fence.
I took a nap at a cliff once. after i woke up, the nap killed all my motivation to jump :p
