  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Information must be always open, free and the will of each individual must be respected.
i think suppression and rejection are the wrong approaches in probably most if not all fields, we as society tend to do this with everything that is unwanted. people that got addicted, suicidal people, homeless, and so on. it's the same with the war on drugs, we will never solve an "issue" by suppressing it, on top we deal with real people here and not objects. the only way to finally transform this matter of unwanted suicide is to shed light on it and to accept it as part of our reality. we should allow it so to be open to understanding this and working toward a more compassionate and loving society, it's the only way of solving this matter once and for all. if we keep on rejecting suicidal people, we only make matters worse.

Do you really think that information is free and open? I guess Karl Marx was right: "Die herrschende Meinung ist immer die Meinung der Herrschenden. The prevailing opinion is always the opinion of the ruling."

The current Corona hysteria is a good example for this. From the point of view of the elites suicidal people are generally insane and one has to help them to overcome their disease. Dissenting views are suppressed. It is almost impossible to change this by the "long march through the institutions" because the people involved will probably be dead soon.

I feel like in a life as horrible as this people committing suicide is inevitable. Life is suffering after all and there is no limit as to how bad things can get. I feel like restricting information will just make people more desperate and in the case of suicide, lead to failed attempts. The only way to reduce suicides is to focus on the causes of what makes people suicidal in the first place, but after all we deserve a right to die, it is our life and our decision and nobody else has any say in this.

Part of the problem is that people know that suicides happen, but it makes them uncomfortable, so they sweep it under the rug and pretend that it doesn't exist. Society needs to talk openly about suicide in order to get to the root of the problem. If they are serious about preventing suicides, they have to address the issues that cause people to commit suicide in the first place, and then they have to offer suicidal people a practical solution to their problems, if possible. It isn't realistic to expect the suicide rate to go down if the root causes aren't addressed. Society needs to stop blaming the suicidal person for how they feel and stop treating them like they are inferior to non suicidal people.

this, once people are seen as equals and treated as such rather than patronised and talked down to for being 'mentally incapable' we may begin to progress in reducing the suicide 'epidemic'. also must do away with the insistence that suicide is always irrational and that those who are suicidal are mentally ill rather than reacting rationally to a sick society.

i say 'epidemic' because there seems to be a lot less than the media's sensationalist reporting would have us believe. rates of suicide will increase if society continues as it is but nowhere near epidemic levels. they just want to make it seem that way because any loss of a consumer and worker is insufferable to them. i believe the answer is living as opposite to that as possible - but it is difficult to achieve in the western world - and even changing one's lifestyle is but a blip compared to the society it is contextualised in - then again that will take much longer to change if it ever will before this civilisation collapses just like its predecessors did. infinite expansion is unsustainable, that is why they are trying to colonise outer space. yet they fail to account for the lives here on earth - perhaps we should try to improve these before continuing the constant rage to increase size.

just my mentally incapable two cents. not quite articulated as best as i wished but hopefully readers can pick out my message from the word salad.
