Not talking about this case in particular, but I've seen sensationalist suicide stories appearing in tabloids sometimes. How do those people get permission to publish that? Do they ask permission to the family? Does someone in the hospital pass out that information? Perhaps the person who finds the corpse in the hotel room? Always been curious about this.

i hate when they don't mention the method. He was found in a bathtub....does that mean overdose? Does a surgeon have access to useful OD drugs?

Probably, or, working at a hospital could have easily bullshitted someone into giving them to him.
Not to mention that as a physician he probably knew how to ctb even without drugs.

I mean it's not like there is some secret method only known to physicians. If he was in a bathtub, that makes me think it wasn't hanging, and since he is British that it wasn't gunshot either.

The News outlets aren't going to go in detail on how a person commits suicide. They don't want copy cats. There are have been multiple celebrity deaths by hanging in the US in 2018 but we have no ideal if they did full suspension or partial
