Sodium nitrate can be used to synthesize sodium nitrite (SN). I can't really get my hands on it though.
I am able to get iron (III) nitrate. So I thought I could maybe mix an iron (III) nitrate solution with a sodium hydroxide solution, causing iron (III) hydroxide to precipitate out. If I then filter out the solid stuff and crystalize the filtrate, I should be left with sodium nitrate.
Can any chemist confirm if this is a sound plan?
