  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I've wondered why most societies disapprove of suicide but then I realized, it's not suicide that's forbidden but the control over your life. For most of human history (and even in many nations today), things like abortion and gay rights are illegal. Not only are they illegal, but you can get beaten up and killed for the latter.

A lot of highly religious parents in America kick their teenage kids out after coming out as gay. No crime apart for being sexually attracted to the same sex. There are many states also going backwards on their abortion laws.

If many people have a negative attitude towards people doing things with their own body like this, I imagine they'll have the same attitude towards suicide. Just my 0.02 cents.

These can be blamed on religion if you look closely. And the religions think their beliefs should apply to everyone, and everyone should be forced to comply.

Every generation is burdened by the remnants of the beliefs of the previous generations.

If the world were redesigned by millennials I can assure you that there would be more peace internationally, greater equality, and a more principle driven society.

Sure, I'm not suggesting that millennials currently have the life experience required to re-engineer society with all of its nuances, I'm simply making the point that society is slowly becoming more open minded.

As regards homosexuality, in my (limited) experience I have observed that women are more accepting of same sex relationships than men. That is to say that femininity doesn't appear to see lesbians as a 'threat', whereas masculinity appears to be uncomfortable with the idea of two men in a relationship.
I believe this is because of long-standing beliefs about the role men play in society and what masculinity is taken to mean.
Things are changing slowly.

To be honest, I'm not sure that the more general statement that society doesn't like you to have control over your own body holds true.
It feels more likely to be true that on a case by case basis (drugs, su**ide, homosexuality...) society hasn't reached a point where it is open minded about the subject (e.g. masculinity explained above).

The world status quo needs more slave vessels to carry the weight of those sociopaths and psychopaths who rule the world order.

I fully agree. People care more about control than lives. If it were really about lives, people in power would try their hardest to improve the quality of life for everyone. Easier access to food security, healthcare, etc.
But no, they place us in shit conditions that we're not allowed to escape from. So, in turn, the lot of us end up being dead-inside wage slaves who are too empty inside to protest.

And the only time where it's okay to end our lives is by dying in a war for billionaires who don't even acknowledge our existence. We can never die for our own reasons, only to benefit others. If our death doesn't benefit the powers that be, then becoming an empty consumerist wage slave is our only other option.

And I'm fully convinced that, deep down, world leaders only care about abortion and same-sex relationships because the result of either of those options cuts into their profit margins. Abortion means no more future slaves and the same goes for same-sex marriage.

I think "society" opposes suicide because society wants people to work until they drop dead. I agree people need to work to create the things we all need to survive. But if people had the choice to determine their death, nobody would be forced to work 16 hour days doing dangerous jobs for a subsistence living.
