Who else is completely sick of social media?
Fake people, fake life, fake posts.
People always tend to share the good things and it makes us think that everyone else has a great life. There is also no humanity left on there. Why don't we just change it to antisocial-media because all it did is destroy mešŸ˜”
Who else is tired of this fake world we live in.

Why do you use social media ? I never did in my life.
Well, after I got diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis, lost my job and stupid lockdown I found comfort on social media. Idk to not be lonely with my thoughts I think. But it ended up worse than I ever could've imagined. I used social media and certain people as support but it got pulled away from under my feet and now I'm even more lost than before.

IĀ“m sorry to hear that. šŸ€
Maybe you can find an alternative, such as reading books, nature, painting.

I just think that anything like that is best avoided in general, social media certainly is so fake and very often leads to more harm and suffering, it usually shows what people want other people to see rather than the reality of their existence. To me this world really is such a dreadful place, I think humans are the worst species.

That's pretty standard advice but it doesn't work for everyone.

Books don't interest me anymore. I can still read, cognitively, but there is no such thing as a "page turner" anymore. So I struggle to concentrate and stay interested for very long.

Same with nature. If I'm in nature I just don't see the point. I just want to go back home and crawl into bed.

Same with most things really. I guess they call it anhedonia.

If I'm out of bed I want to be back in bed.
If I'm in bed I think I should get out of bed.

Sometimes I get in and out of bed for hours. It's really pathetic.

Yeah I have tried tons of things for distraction but as soon as I'm back home, or back to being alone with my thoughts it just returns. The distraction is temporary. I hate that I can't get back to 'normal'. I relapsed into cutting again after 5 years and now I'm even more dissapointed in myself an more depressed. It's all just shit isn't it. Mental healthcare is also non-existent in my case. No efforts in helping me out, f healthcare providers

I understand exactly how you feel and I know exactly what you're talking about. Instagram and Facebook are the worst of them all. I try to explain this to people and they seem to be oblivious to it, either that or they are just not bothered, or maybe even they're part of the problem themselves maybe. I mean there are some nice people out there on social media, but they're usually a smaller overall percentage. Dating apps (such as Tinder, Badoo, OKCupid, Hinge, Bumble, etc.) are even worse than Facebook and Instagram, since they're also considered social media to some extent, well those *things* are plagued with vain/superficial people with too high expectations/standards. My word of advice to you is sit back and watch the demise of humanity swoop in and watch AI/robots take over and make humanity redundant. Also, global warming will eventually shut us off as a species anyways. I'm trying to get over my biological urges to want a partner at the moment, but it's hard to do so. Life has become one giant joke for me.

I was in a similar position, even before covid I was stuck inside due to physical limitations. I spent increasing amounts of time on social media and it almost destroyed me. I had to just deactivate my accounts and not go near it, except for discord, I found that was fine.

Social media encourages the worst parts of human nature to come out such as narcissism.

I hate social media, causes a lot of problems - all you see is the 'good life' but you never see the bad side of it. It sucks, that's why I removed it.

I can only agree that social media can be detrimental, and I recognized its harmful potential during my teenage years. I gradually distanced myself from most social media platforms, and now I primarily engage with Discord, YouTube, and Twitch, if they can even be classified as traditional social media.

I fail to comprehend the significance of sharing pictures of meals or updating one's followers about mundane activities like waiting at a bus station. What disturbs me, even more, is the extent to which individuals on social media become obsessed with accumulating likes and will go to great lengths to seek validation from mostly unknown individuals whom they have never met or formed genuine connections with.

From my perspective, social media serves as a medium for self-destruction, fueling addictions to likes, follower counts, and the fabricated image that strangers hold of you. Those who spend countless hours consuming social media seem to willingly subject themselves to unnecessary suffering.

Social media is little more than unadulterated hyperreality. Distancing myself from it has done nothing but help my mental health.
