As far as methods for ctb go, SN seems to be relatively less painful, on average. But it's not guaranteed to be painless, and for at least a few people, it seemed to hurt quite a lot (though this seems to be uncommon). Here's a thread filled with accounts of what it might feel like, if you're curious.

You'll be hard pressed to find any method that doesn't give you some discomfort. Dying is just painful.

It is supposed to a relatively painless method if all goes well, but as is the case with all methods, there will be some discomfort. You may experience some stomach pain and discomfort, nausea, and some vomiting, as your body may tries expel the SN from itself. A headache also seems to be pretty common.

You can lessen these symptoms by using anti-emetics and fasting for 8-12 hours before taking SN to prevent vomiting, chewing on some gum or mints and sitting upright for the nausea, and taking paracetamol or ibuprofen for the headache.
