Help SN - propranolol dosing

Since my nurse prescribed me propranolol months back for anxiety I have some onhand, however the PPeH recommends as of one of the most recent, to only use 1-2gm of propranolol for potentiation.

My issue is this: How do I dose it out when my propanolol is 20mg per tablet? Should I even worry about it if the end result would wind up being the same?

I also have 20mg tablets. I'm just going to take 1 tablet unless someone gives a reason not to.

I think it would just mean you have to somehow crush up 50 tablets to make a total of 1g. Which is a lot of tablets lol.

1 gram is 1000 milligrams so yeah... that's a lot of tablets lol. But I suppose it don't matter if you're planning to end it anyway huh?

What is the recommended method of crushing large quantities of medication? Mortar and pestle?

I've wondered about that, too. How to crush the pills...I would use a mortar and pestle, for sure.

Regarding the Propranolol dosing, I think it needs to be pretty high for effectiveness.

They need to short-acting. If they are, they dissolve easily in water.

In the latest PPH, the dosage is 800 mg and it's advised to crush it and mix with the SN. It both mitigates against tachycardia and potentiates the SN.

Members have recommended instead that some is taken beforehand as it takes 30 minutes for it to enter bloodstream and 60 to 90 minutes to take full effect. Besides it having effect prior to SN, the beforehand dose will be fully absorbed and not lost if you vomit the SN.

@Jumper Geo has written extensively about this and, in his partner post , says to be.planning 200 mg 1 hour before and the same mixed with the SN.

I was not aware of this continued drop in dosing recommendation. Thank you for adding this here! I have enough tablets for whatever I decide for the moment which is nice to know.
