Hey I've been reading Stan's guide and I have access to all the meds except benzos. My doctor flat out refuses to prescribe them despite the fact I've had insomnia for my whole life. I do however have some zopiclone which isn't a benzo but I'm wondering if it will suffice in place of them? As it does a similar thing. Thank you!
Zopiclone does affect the same receptors as benzos (I think) but it would have be timed quite precisely. They have a much more hypnotic effect than benzos, so you might forget to take the sn and get distracted. Again the timing would be key for using any z-drug, obviously you want it to kick in but not so much you start getting confused, have a look into how quickly it comes on
I'm in the same boat. Just finished a doctor's appointment and managed to be prescribed the Meto but no luck with the Benzos. She told me I had a better Chance getting prescribed anti depressants than getting any sedatives. I'm going back next week to try again.
I suggest going in again but see someone different, tell them you are experiencing severe panic attacks and you need something that acts immediately and outright say you don't want any Xanax (red flag) If they refuse ask for a small dose in case of emergency, if they refuse go back and say you've tried everything and it hasn't worked.

The easiest way I have always obtained a prescription for Benzos is to visit a doctor as a new patient. I just give them a list of my current medications and include the benzos on the list. I have to answer questions, but the doctors always end up writing prescriptions for all the drugs. I have to change doctors/health plans every few years whenever I move to a new state and have never had any problems.

Interesting, thanks. I'll look into it but I'm in the UK and the options for GP surgeries are quite limited as they're all full! Thanks for the input though and I will see if I can change :)
Just a note from previous experience I recently tried to CTB with SN using zopiclone. I am on 7.5mg, so i doubled it to ensure I fell asleep....then fell asleep before I could take the drink.
I took the zopiclone about 40 mins before I planned to drink SN.

Great info that corroborates things , thanx :) Z-Drugs usually 20m-30m , but overall benzo etc are very individual .
Everything people noted here in this thread is great. If you want Z/Benzo to make you pretty numb to side effects (peaceful) while taking SN, you need a trial beforehand and to time it -- under same circumstances (empty stomach etc) .
A knock out could hinder your recovery option . I know most don't want to think about calling for help after SN intake , and actually seek ways to minimize the chances of that (SI) , but it's an option that should be presented and considered .

Yes! A trial before is a great idea quarky, everyone is very different I for one can't do anything 10-15 minutes after any z-drugs. Good point on the recovery option too, make sure you are certain it is the right time. Maybe set a task you have to complete and see if you can do it within the target time? Like mixing table salt and water.. Just an idea

Is it really necessary to get a specific benzo or would any sedative be okay ?
antidepressant, antipsychotic, anxiolytic, benzo have all sedative effects depending the dosage
I probably misunderstood something or underestimated interaction risk between drugs... in my mind if the drug reduces anxiety few days before it will make the job done, but maybe it's not enough to prevent a panic attack after drinking sn ?
I guess it depends entirely on the person. I mean barbs came before benzos, then anti-psychs/anti-Ds came after benzos since dependence. I would go with whatever works for you, test it. I know benzos very well so I'd be unlikely to go for an anti-d or anti-psych unless for anti-emetic purposes. Benzos for me reduce anxiety almost instantly and I'm not overall clear on the question you're asking? Sorry I'm bad at understanding people lol, which sedative over benzos?
I'm the exact opposite, no effect until 60-90 minutes after taking it. But then again, even flunitrazepam (a.k.a. Rohypnol, the date rape drug) didn't work on me I think it's safe to say I'm the outlier in this case.
In the case of zopiclone, the nurses at the psych ward I've been to didn't allow me to take it unless I was already in bed due to how fast it supposedly works. Took at lot of explaining until they let me take it an hour before bedtime. Probably for good reason, though. It's normally very fast-acting.
Since you're doing it on an empty stomach, I think maybe it would even be enough to take it with the SN rather than before. Great idea to make test-runs with similar preparations, though!
It's not that you're bad at understanding, it's because I'm bad at english lol
You're right it depends on each individual and testing the sedative is recommended. I've tested some anti-psychotic and anti-depressant but don't know much about benzo so I will probably test how it works on reducing anxiety. And yes the sedative effects will probably be faster with a benzo which is recommended on sn method.

Exactly I've seen people swear by quetiapine(seroquel) but I've taken a bunch and stay awake! Your English is better than some native speakers I know of ;) haha

Yes me too! I was on quetiapine for ages it never made me pass out! Zopiclone works for me at a high enough dosage if I've kkt been taking it for days prior which builds a tolerance but the issue here of course is that I don't want to pass out before taking the SN. someone suggested a trial run, I think that's a good idea.

Modern drugs (other than benzo/z) do not work like that , "few days" ... One can clearly see (search any SSRI or AP) they takes 2-6 weeks for effects Do not use any of that for SN (unless it's part of your normal daily medication etc)
