I tried to order from several online places in the past few days, a lot respond the same spiel, it's from UK based places:
"Please note that due to the current legislation we are unable to process orders for chemicals on the guest account. This order has been cancelled and the payment refunded. If you still require the goods, please can you send a Purchase Order on company headed paper to xyz"

I replied that it was for a college experiment and could I buy as an individual, response:
"Many thanks for your email. Yes, we cannot ship the chemical to a residential address and we also would need a registered company to purchase this not an individual."

This has happened across multiple labs and even just people who use it to cure meat, so if you have access and this is your planned ctb, I would recommend getting it now.

It's not that weird, to be honest. Here in Canada it's a "restricted component", although it's legal to purchase as a consumer. It's covered under the Explosives Regulations.

459 Any person may acquire a restricted component for a purpose other than manufacturing restricted component products for sale.​

I hate them (the govt, any legal shit) so much. We're always told that we're free to do whatever we want, except be a decent person and hope to rise up in the 'ranks of society', or look from a logical point and realise there is no 'decent' way forward, oh now I have all my rights stripped away coz I wanna leave this place....Ugghh.

NaN02 is Sodium NITRITE, NaN03 is sodium NITRATE.. if i am not mistaken

You have these backwards. 02 is Nitrite. 03 is Nitrate.

Then the next morning he messaged me saying he could sell it after all. My guess is there is something going on, either pending legislation, or something like that.

For those who have read me before on this matter, I apologise for the repetition, but new members arrive by the day and it may be new to them.

(Following relevant to UK only)

The Poisons Act 1972 divides poisons into two categories, viz. Regulated and Reportable.
Acquisition, possession and transfer of Regulated Poisons are controlled by a system of Home Office Licensing. You can only have the stuff if you have a licence.

SN is listed in the other category, that is to say Reportable. Anybody may acquire and possess items in this category, BUT there is a legal obligation on suppliers to refuse to supply in cases where they are suspicious about the nature of eventual use. Suppliers must have reasonable grounds to be suspicious, and must report such attempted transactions to the police.

It falls to the suppliers to determine what "suspicious" and "reasonable grounds" mean exactly, though Home Office Guidance has been published. The Home Office doesn't have too good a track record on advisory guidance, and the police (in many cases) do not seem able to distinguish between what is law and what is guidance. By way of relevant example, their attempts to produce sensible and clear guidance about firearms laws over many years is extremely disappointing, but that's a different story, no longer of any interest to me, though in fairness firearms laws are a massive hotch-potch and very difficult to follow for anybody who is not an expert.

Back to Reportable Poisons, and SN in partick. Inevitably, most legitimate chemical suppliers will want to steer well clear of any disputes and will devise means to show that they have taken precautions which err heavily on the side of caution. This seems to centre on restricting supply to customers who prove they are bona fide businesses. In the case of smaller suppliers, it seems that many just stop selling the stuff altogether. Brits have a very unfortunate tendency to "Gold Plate" any laws, rules, regulations of guidance, and the authorities are quite happy to let us over-regulate ourselves.

The UK Government invented a new post within the Department of Health in October 2018, which has a colloquial title of "Minister of Suicide Prevention."
There have been two incumbents so far; the current one is Ms Nadine Dorries, who is possibly best known for having taken part in a silly but lucrative reality TV programme. She also drew criticism over the matter of some of her expenses claims, though she has not been accused of any illegality.
Perhaps she has other claims to fame.

Her stated views on abortion rights and same sex marriage may indicate a mindset which may not seem encouraging to some liberally-minded members of this forum.

I have little personal doubt that her sub-department will be actively nudging UK chemical suppliers to be more proactive in being "suspicious" about SN transactions.

Holy shit, that didn't take long for it to become restricted, I was putting off ordering it and now I'm kind of fucked. I have some other sn but it wasn't sealed too well when I got it and I'm certain that air got into it and degraded the quality. Anyone have an idea of how to get this into Canada?

If your order contained 50g of SN then I ordered the same thing and it arrived on Monday so you should be all good. I was terrified it'd be rejected but they didn't even message me to enquire about it's intended use.

In theory, would you be able to have someone else purchase it and ship it into canada or would it get stopped? Im considering asking someone to purchase it in another country and send to me after they receive in case it really does get impossible later
