SN blood test with photo

Hi all,

So I did a blood test from the Fishing SN which claims to be 99% tech grade (although there is no best before date). So here is my result.

Does that look brown enough? (Left with SN added , right regular blood)

The container doesn't seem to be air tight sealed so I'm worried it has degraded over time in storage before it got to me :/

Honestly, I can't tell. Blood can sometimes appear almost black if its a large drop. But the second spot on the right is what normal blood color is for reference.

The left spot doesn´t look brown. It looks more like a darker red. But the metal part underneath may change the color. What kind of container is it ? May be you can post a photo (without showing the label). If the the container isn´t air tight, nitrit converts into nitrat.

Looks like Chocolate Syrup to me. :-) I think your container is fine, the lid screws right on top to make a seal.

It looks brown enough to me. I've worked with a lot of venous and arterial blood samples. The one on the left definitely looks as though it is deoxygenated.

It was actually darker in person but the phone brightens it up. I've seen other threads with darker samples :/ . It turned brown to my eyes just not dark brown. This happened pretty much immediately and I took the pictures and cleaned up

Thanks for your testing efforts… this is the exact SN I have. I bought it a couple of weeks ago. I just searched up "sodium nitrite salmon eggs" and ordered from the first outdoors fishing type place that had it for sale. I paid via PayPal so I didn't need to open an account/sign-in. Shipping was kinda expensive, but not excessive. There was another brand I found being sold from a different fishing bait store that I had lined up just in case my first order was cancelled. Between these two places, IC (the food cuisine store), and DD/DE (the diesel place), I was able to buy SN in the US within moments of searching for it using DuckDuckGo.

I don't understand how people keep saying SN is had to find/buy just because they can't buy it from the big box stores' online websites anymore…

They aren't putting in the work to find it. Most of said people are people who expect things to fall into their lap, or they are in countries where it's nearly impossible to get.

Well, SN is not illegal in any country… and every country has LOTS of people that fish… therefore buying SN to cure fish eggs as fish bait is going to be easy to find in every country… even if this means they have to travel 30 minutes or so to a fishing town to buy it off the store shelves in a bait store. This is not hard or rocket science.

Banned or restricted? SN is used all over the world for coloring and curing meats (bacon, ham, etc) even if SN is only a small portion of the salt cure recipe. Beyond curing meats, SN is used for a dozen other popular/everyday activities/hobbies (fish bait, cleaning, automotive, etc). SN is a very popular substance.

I don't want to do extensive research, but in the case a particular country has banned it, the next closet country is usually only 30 minutes away (in Europe and South America for example).

If you are having trouble finding SN to buy, search up uses for SN, and then search places to buy supplies for that use (ie bait supply stores, meat curing/butcher shops).

I'm just trying to be realistic/pragmatic…
