Even though PN says there's no need to test SN if bought from a reputable company, I think I'll still test it when I open it tomorrow for measuring. Totally trust the vendor so maybe I should let it go and not add one more thing to my regimen tomorrow? Could someone please post the link here on how to do the blood test? Thanks.

Mix a few drops of blood with some SN. If it turns brown, the SN should be ok. Keep some blood to compare the colors.

How much SN? I believe there's a thread somewhere that lists specifics? Anyone have that?

One knife tip is enough. Best use a white plate to see the color well. Close the SN bottle again to prevent nitrite from converting to nitrate.

Hm. I mean… the specifics are — blood should turn brown and have mud-like texture when exposed to SN. 🤔

Here are the instructions on the SN blood test. In addition, there are Nitrite test strips which are readily available online.

Specifics = amount of blood and amount of SN for the test. Thanks. Seems like a lot of blood is needed. I've been pricking my fingers for 30 years (type 1 diabetes) so that's not a problem. But that's going to be a lot of pricking. I realize I'm understandably overthinking given tomorrow is the day. Doesn't mention anything about blood amount compared to SN amount.

don't forget to make sure you sealed your sn so it doesn't turn into nitrate! Hope you are well and feeling confident today. I wish you all the luck in the world

Can you explain how SN would turn into nitrate? Nitrate is a completely different compound. SN breaks down to sodium oxide, nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide.

Chemically Sodium Nitrite cannot turn into Nitrate nor can it turn into Nitrite unless missed with ammonia in a zero oxygen environment.

I can try to explain as best as possible, but my English is poor:

In the nitrification process, ammonia is oxidized to nitrite and then to nitrate. This process is carried out by bacteria that perform chemosynthesis, that is, that use the energy released in nitrification to synthesize their organic substances.

Translation: Unless exposed to moisture, ammonia, light AND an increase in temperature, your inorganic salt (SN) will not go bad overtime.

Keep it in the container you received it in. It will not degrade, weaken, dilute, or become "less potent" over time. No need to worry.

Yes, I would hope that everyone already knows that. It's common knowledge and all over these forums.
