• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I noticed some aquarium test strips use the PPM measurement unit and this had me quite confused, so I'm sharing what I've learned.

Ppm

PPM (parts per million) is a unit used to describe very small concentrations of a substance in a larger solution. 1 PPM means 1 part per every 1,000,000 (or 1/1,000,000).
Example: 1g / 1L = 1,000mg / 1,000ml
If we divide it by 1,000 we have 1,000mg/1,000,000ml or, better: 1mg / 1,000ml
1mg / 1L equals 1 PPM. So, for instance, a value of 10 (ppm) in the strip above would equal 10mg / 1L

See the following threads to learn how to prepare mixtures with a desired SN amount (many thanks to the original posters):

A very accurate online conversion tool, but I wanted to understand the concept behind ppm so I had to do some math
