Should I quit my job before I die?

I work in childcare and I'm not sure if I should leave my job before I take my own life or not. I don't want my death to end up being a liability for the job I work for as I love working where I work at. My job has actually kept me living longer than I planned to because I like trolling and having fun with the kids at work. Should I quit my job before I take my own life or does it not matter?

Only if you're 100% sure you're going to go through with it.

You don't want to quit, change your mind, and then have no job.

You should be cautious about quitting your job if you like it, because there is always a chance your attempt to CTB may fail. Could you take some time off instead of quitting? That would give your employer time to make a smooth transition if you successfully CTB, and it would give you a chance to return to work if it fails.

Hum, I suggest you to not quit your job to kill yourself. Imagine if you fail, you should've not only look for another attempt, but for another job too.

You have a 97 percent chance of failing your suicide attempt if you are able to get past the survival instinct if you are a USA based person and if you have the same survival rate as an average person who attempts

my guess would be that of people on SaSu who attempt, 50 percent succeed, however, so it may be more likely for you

you could also just do a delayed send email that you are quitting and have to quit immediately due to an emergency and you are sorry for the inconvenience if you don't tell them now. that way if you fail, you can can cancel the delayed send email

No. You are lucky to find a job that makes you happy and has given you some sense of purpose, and as long as you continue to feel that way with your job, then you keep it no matter what your plans are.

In my opinion you should minimize as much collateral damage as possible if you are going to act. You don't want to traumatize these children I think.

Just because we are hurt and traumatized, doesn't mean we should pass it on to other people. Especially children.

I am not judging you, but I do feel there is some moral obligation here.

I appreciate all of your messages. As much as I would love to continue working at this job, there are a couple of factors in my personal life that makes me not want to continue on living. I have until April to make the final decision. Ironically, I plan on getting a second job only so that I can have enough money to purchase the SN and antiemetics. If I can't reach the April deadline in time, I might do it in May.

I personally would not quit. Like others have said.
In case I didn't go through with it or failure. I'm glad I didn't quit my job because I was close a few times and didn't go through with it.

It also may depend on the type of job.

Is it a job where the employer will able to say you left the position without it leading to suspicion?

If you are a preschool teacher, but there are other teachers and sometimes teachers leave, perhaps they would be okay.

However, if you are like a nanny to kids and it's just a few kids and would suddenly be completely gone, that might be different, especially if they were a bit older and could figure it out.

Is it a situation in which if you suddenly leave, it could be something that would normally happen?

Can you wait until Summer when school is out if it's a school position?

If you're suicidal and find yourself procrastinating ctb while your job is keeping you alive, maybe quitting is the thing that will get you over the line.

Like others said before me, I would not quit. What if you change your mind about CTB in the last minute? Than you'll lose your great job. And if your CTB is successful, it doesn't really matter anymore that you quit or not. But it's just my opinion.

Can you compromise and take holiday time? That way, you aren't so pressured to do it on a certain day. Your employers won't be expecting you in. Then, you can notify those left behind to notify them. I plan to send a delayed email to my solicitor to let family, friends and employers know once my death was confirmed.

Personally, I'd try to avoid burning bridges by quiting jobs etc. None of us really know whether we'll go through with an attempt, whether it will succeed etc. It's seems best to try to keep options open to me.

For context, I currently work in an afterschool program. I only got the job because a friend of mine recommended it to me after I had gone a couple of years of being unemployed.
