I live with my mother and brother but. I am really unhappy here. Depressed and without energies. I have the possibility to find a good job in Europe. But I am afraid to regret and come back to my home.
I don't have many friends here, neither boyfriend. Should I move to a bigger city abroad?

I despise lifer advice but honestly what more do you got to lose? If you have the determination to see it through then why not? But I'm a hypocrite of that since I'm in the same position as you but I don't have the drive to do it. You ain't going to know unless you try and I promise as the depression grows stronger you'll resent yourself over the things you didn't try and regret it just like myself. It's shallow and I know it's hard to change things but it is all up to you to try.

If it helps, I only became suicidal AFTER moving to another country. But I guess everyone's experience would vary

If you'd ever like to have an extended chat about this, please PM me. I've lived and worked on five continents. I thought, very excitedly each time, that immersing myself in very different cultures, languages, work settings... would return my joie de vivre. But every culture I lived in--the Middle East, Russia, Eastern Europe, South America, Far East Asia, Australia--I always lugged the source of my problems around with me. I don't mean that figuratively. There's something about me that bothers people deeply. So it doesn't matter where I go. If you're anything like me, the moving may come at other costs that eclipse the benefits of travel. But if you're very different from me, you could find a place and a people that/who fulfill you so much your depression wanes. If you have the chance to leave your stuff at a home in your present country and travel for one or two years, you might find out if your depression is more related to your environment. I hope it is and that you can escape it.

Very well said. You'll take your issues with you and maybe the new environment might be conducive to change and improvement, or maybe not. But if you're sure where you are now isn't working, it's worth trying at least.

Maybe it will work, maybe it won't work, IDK. It's worth a shot though I think. Ultimately if your a bad conversationalist then that will hinder you no matter where you go until you fix that.

Yes, and especially if it's to a country where you are not as fluent in their language as your native language.

Have you spoken to your mother or brother about how you feel (obviously in a measured way)?
This may be very hard but also very helpful.

Moving to a country where you don't speak the language very well won't help your depression, clearly. into a city isn't a bad idea, you might find more vitality there.

When you're deeply suicidal it feels like there is only one choice: to end your life. However, there is another choice. You can start a new life, which is what it seems like you want to do. Some people find that the best cure for suicidal ideation is to make a big change in your life, e.g. moving countries. If you are really unhappy with your current life, to the point where you are actively suicidal, I think you should move countries and start a new life. Become the person you've always wanted to be. Remove all previous negativity.

Yes, what do you have to lose. You might be fearful about such a big change but that's natural. Often the best things i have done in life have been when i was a bit fearful in the beginning. The first steps are the hardest but if you are really so fed up with your life as it is, you can take them if you truly desire a better life and think it's possible this might help.

Thank you all for your help!! It is difficult to decide for me since I am always changing my mind. Thank you!

Yes, in Europe I would go to Barcelona or Berlin and I don't speak Spanish, neither Germany. Dublin or London are too expensive. And since I have difficulty to have friends here and find a boyfriend, probably in other countries would be the same thing for me.

My experience with moving state is that for the first year, it's a fresh start, and then old memories get triggered by something and I go back to being depressed. But I haven't lived abroad, so maybe it would be different. Don't know. I've been fighting depression for pretty much my whole life.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes!

Sorry, but yes, this might be late, but yeah do it. A change of environment helps A TON. Get away from that negativity and find yourself again somewhere new. Maybe move out somewhere you would like to be, somewhere that interests you and catches your eye?

I've decided to move every year for the rest of my life. It's the one luxury my situation allows. Amazon delivers in 2 days so I can always have my favorite stuff, or a new copy, shipped to me anywhere.
I hope this goes good for a few years but if not, I have Sn.

Personal observations: Moving itself doesn't help. Moving VERY FAR away from hurtful family did help a little.

Being in a depressed home with family and choosing to move away anywhere else might be good for you. Life is still going to be hard wherever you go, but maybe if you choose the right place it'll become home.

I might move abroad too. I feel like this country is going downhill so fast that without healthcare or stable jobs there isn't any future here. Not that I really want to live for a long time regardless, but I'd like my last year to be better, and there are much better places out there.
