Shotgun to the carotid arteries vs brainstem

I can't pick between the two...can anyone provide some type of information/opinion on why one option might be better than the other?

If you shoot yourself in the carotid with a gun you'll still be conscious for a few seconds.
I don't think it's a good idea. The shotgun won't just shoot your arteries, it will decapitate you most likely and ruin your jaw/parts of your face. Your last seconds are gonna suck.

Snipers in aim for hostage takers brainstem to stop them having a nervous reflex and pulling the trigger. Unless that's an urban myth. Apparently they just turn off as soon as the brainstem is taken out whereas a shot to any other part of the body (including brain/head if the story is true) will come with the reflex response. Regardless, I wouldn't want to take a shot to an artery. If you even touch an artery with a tiny sharp syringe it fucking kills. A piping hot bullet would be a very painful last few moments.

Honestly I would not want to take my chances with firearms. Its so brutal and gruesome for those left behind.

The brainstem is so small that you could easily miss it and not ctb, especially if recoil affects the shot- it is 3" long but only 1/2" wide from what I have read.. The brainstem is easier to hit if one person stands behind another and puts the gun at the top of a person's spine- still sometimes people miss it- 1/2" wide is not much, it's easy to go to one side or the other. Some people think that shooting in the heart is a good location- it might be, but this would need further research- the good thing about this is if yu survive and you plan it right you souldn't blow your face half off, which happens with some attempts to the head. There are many videos of people on youtube who have shot themselves in the head and survived my wtheir face severly damaged- you may want to look at these before deciding.

He shot himself on the side of the head with a high velocity rifle. That blew most of his head and brain including brain stem off.
It's similar to the Ronnie Mcnut video where the whole head blew off. imo it's the high velocity of the bullet (over 2500 feet per second) coupled with it being at point blank range a contact shot.
i assume a 12 gauge shotgun with a magnum slug or magnum 00 buckshot would do similar . But imo if i were to do a shotgun it would in at least 2 inches in my mouth pointing to the brain stem.
Shotgun buckshot and slug at 5 feet toward end of video shows ballistic gell skull bursting apart :



imo a contact shot would be even more devastating

Shooting yourself in the neck seems needlessly painful, even if it would be fatal. Imo the brainstem is a better option. Even if you slightly miss, the amount of damage 00 buckshot or a slug would do is near certain to be fatal, that is if you don't blow your skull into pieces immediately.

The only thing I'm concerned about is making sure I 100% will not survive if I were to use a shotgun. Pain is not a concern of mine. My main method is SN and I figured why not have a shotgun by my side just incase I fail with SN.

I didn't even think about shooting into the heart, that seems like a viable option. Butt of the shotgun against a wall, chest to the barrel, pull the trigger.
