As long as it's stored properly ie away from humidity and heat, an unopened bottle of SN will last indefinitely. Caking and yellowish color are natural.
My SN is also from LW - the plastic bag around the bottle is still intact as well.
I've heard people on this forum saying its shelf life is 1-3 years, if stored in nonoptimal conditions. However, if you take good care of it and store it in good enough conditions, you should just be able to use it whenever without any problems. Like Kerrtu said, caking and the yellow color is normal if you've had it stored for a while.
Just mix a few drops of blood with a smal amount of SN. Keep some blood to compare colours. If the blood-SN-mixture turns brown/red brown, it should be ok. It´s best to use a white plate for this.
By the way there is also a search function, where you can find all those info and photos.
I plan on CTB in the near future with prior fasting. At the time I do, and it fails then what's my recourse? All SN sellers would've probably been taken down by then, and several people here have received SN containers with expiry dates on them.
If I open my container right now and test it then I would be exposing it to air if it passes. The SN would oxidize to nitrate within 3 months.
That's why I want to know the shelf life with certainty.
