Hey I'm curious how shaving works in psych wards. I was thinking about using a shaving razor like the picture below to cut myself(going to try tonight). My plan is to disassemble the thing so I can get the individual razors. and I was curious what kind of shaving equipment is allowed/given in a psych ward so if I end up there I can use that as a second plan to ctb (which I know is not recommend but as a last resort or just as sh).

Pretty sure they don't give you any. Just behave really well and wait until you're out, it's only gonna be a few days. They design the psych ward to be high surveillance and ridiculously safe.

In the underage psych ward (southern germany) I never was allowed to have a razor but a fellow patient was allowed to use a razor in the male bathroom without supervision. I guess if he took too long they would have gotten suspicious but other than that, they trusted him.

So stay under the radar and (pretend to) behave nicely and you might be allowed to use a razor. It's just that they're probably keeping inventory if you don't have it in your room/bathroom and might notice that it's been away a long time. Expect your room to be searched and/or being moved to another room and more surveillance if you try to hide the blade.

I wish you the best of luck

In my experience they sit in the same room with you when you shave. Also, those razors make superficial cuts that are still easy to get infected, not to mention the itchiness and how much they sting. I would not recommend. You will have more chances snipping the blades in half than taking them out.

Mhm ye just tried it out, doing it with a blade is way nicer. any idea on why it itches/stings so much ? I wouldn't really think it would do that since they are so sharp but it really does itch. And another question does it sting/itch if you cut with a razor as in like the bigger stainless steel double edged one.
Nvm just decided I must succeed, ty for the help though ❤️

It's typical for cuts that size to be uncomfortable and itchy. A stainless steel blade does, indeed, make cleaner cuts, I'd say it's also slightly more sterile, but it is harder to manage and control. I personally think staying clean is much less troublesome and it's worth trying, even if it's truly hard. Stay safe!

Not gonna work buddy.

That's a target item they take away upon admission. A staff member is required to be there when you shave and they absolutely WILL NOT let you do harm yourself

Lmao the nurses were annoyed I needed to shave

No backup plan will work. Psych wards are the epitome of anti-CTB hell and will watch you like a hawk to make sure you don't ctb

From my experience, I don't think they're going to give you any razors to begin with. Psych wards are high surveillance and is really safe and is one of the worst places to CTB. You can't even sneak a weapon in as they will do a full body check on you to ensure that you don't sneak a weapon in. I'd say just try your best to not get into one. Even if they DO give you a razor, which I doubt, the nurses will monitor you very closely and basically be right behind you as you shave.

From personal experience, we (the facility I was at) allowed shaving, only by electric razors, u were monitored whilst shaving and were not allowed to be unsupervised with it. Must return back after using.
